It may just be me, but with the build-up of foam and fiberglass over the sides and partially on top, how will the PC open? Do you plan to cut the fiberglass after it's finished to allow the top to open?

Another update. I almost finished the first part of the fiberglassing phase. The side skirts and air intakes are completely covered with some layers of fiberglass. I still have to cover the front but before that i still have some bondo work to do.

Hopefully, i will get the bodywork done in a week or so. Then i can finally cut the fiberglass and open up the case

It's been such a long time since i last updated this worklog..., sorry for that guys, i know there are quite a few people here that like this project and want to see some progress. For the past 2 months i simply couldn't find the time to work on the case. Only during this week i was able to get some things done, making enough progress for a small log update.

I've covered the top area of the case with fiberglass and after some bodywork painted the whole case with a thick layer of sandable primer to highlight all the imperfections. I also covered the front bezel and the air intakes with fiberglass today and next week after some more bodywork i will finally cut the case open. Here are some pics of this week's progress

    Strips of fiberglass and peelply
    [IMG]

I begin with wetting the covered surface with a thin layer of resin

Then laying down the fiberglass strips

And finally i covered the fiberglass with peelply for smooth surface

Thanks guys :D I'm very happy i could finally find some time for this project

derbaum: i allowed myself to go on with painting the case with primer cause i finished the fiberglass work almost on the entire case except for the front where i still haven't laid a single layer of fiber (until today). next week will include some finishing touches with body filler and another layer of primer, this time on the entire case. And finally i hope i will find some time to cut the case open.

dacust: thanks :). the video updates will pop out here and there, since i can only make "progress reviews" rather than actual updates i will make them every time i advance a significant step towards finishing this project, giving you a tour on what I've done so far

you can't cut it, no way! it's gonna be too nice to cut, i don't think i wanna see pictures of that happening :waah:
opening hood would be nice however, maybe opening doors!
you may be just connecting the green wires of the psu's, but
here's 2 pages of info on connecting psu's that might be of interest
and that carbon is really super sexy. i look forward to seeing some nice wheels on this beast

Thanks again everyone, your comments are highly appreciated :D

greensabbath: Hey Nick :D. Yea i know it looked like i wasn't even here, but i did lurk around, been keeping a close eye on your Nakamura actually, looks amazing so far!

mvagusta: Thanks. About cutting the case open, no way around it, but i promise i'll do my best not to disappoint you :D About connecting the PSU's i already got a fellow electrician to help me out when i get to that point. And finally about the wheels, there wont be any, but you just gave me a very nice idea my case feet ;)

I was thinking about a paint scheme earlier and aside from painting it in a classic all red color i came to realize that i always liked those classic white stripes like in the following pics

Yea i agree it's not exactly Ferrari style but BOY does it looks good! what do you all think? Be honest!
