Just got myslef a Ti4400 card and I'm overclocking it 310/670. MY CPU temps have gone up dramatically!! I've stopped overclocking my processor for now which was at 139FSB. My temps after boot are around 45.C before they were around 35.C. My case is admittadly a lot hotter I have 2x35CFm out take fans in the CPU area of the case and one 35CFM intake at the bottom of my case behind the bezel. I think the problem is that the GF4 PCB is so big that it's blocking the airflow from the intake fan from reaching the CPU area of the case and so it's getting very hot. I've tried switching one of the out takes to intake, but it's not helped. At the moment I'm running with the Side panel off and it's 37.C when I put it back on it'll go back to 46.C again. My other theory is that my PSU is under too much strain now I have a Ti4400 in there my processor is also at 1.8v so it might have to much to cope with?? I've disconnected my DVD drive and just running my CD writer for now. I'm not really into cutting anymore holes in my case as I suck at DIY so I am concidering the Evercool Card Cooler? Any other idea's on what I can do?
Ok I was playing about with the fans while my PC was switched on. Now none of the 3 pin fan connectors on the motherboard are working.....DOH! I have my northbridge cooler and CPU fan connected directly yo the PSU molex's but my two out take fans are both down. any suggestions on what to do? about this aswell? Where can I buy a fan bus in the UK? *update* I plugged the cpu sensor connector into each of the mobo 3 pin connectors and each of them display the fan Rpm in the BIOS so they connectors are working they just aren't supplying power to the fans?
Sounds like you've exceeded the maximum current draw from the mobo fan headers, and blown some of the circuitry for it. Just use 3-4 pin converters, and run the fans from those.
Thanks Issac, will this damage have any adverse effects on the motherboard's performance? Also I'm all out of Molex connectors so I still think I will require a fan bus and am having difficulty finding a supplier in the Uk.
I have a few 4-3 pin adapters but I wasn't too sure about using them in the way you described as I thought thew device that was end of the connecction i.e. a harddrive would receive less power than is necessary. Obviously I was wrong and I will have a play around with my wires to see if I can set them up in this manner for the time being until i can get hold of a fan bus. I am a little unsure of making a fan bus myself as it looks like it will take a lot of time and effort both of which I don't have at the moment. thanks
if you want a baybus then www.baybus.co.uk do them very cheap and they actually make it on your drive panel that you send them. The price for these ones are variable as they are custom ones but the normal price is £25. www.coolcasemods.com sell one as well. I have this one and i am very impressed with it. This one is about £30.
Thanks LazyDemon I've looked at the links and I've decided I don't want a baybus as the fans are too far away from the bays meaning I'd have to have loads of wires all over the place I want one of these but I don't really want to spend the time ordering the parts and making it. Any idea's where I can buy one of these type of fan buses?? guide here http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/fanbus/index.shtml If someone feels conifdent they can make one and get it to me I'd be happy to pay them for doing it. Thanks
im not sure where u can buy them but you can pick up all the parts needed at your local electronics store and it only takes about 20 min to make.
Maplin have the connectors (stereo loudspeaker) and a box, also molex. Ghetto way is just a plastic connector strip. :dude:
good old maplin sell them but i don't know the codes. Also when you order the parts get some spiral wrap. You get 10m for about £1.38. It helps clean up the fan wires. [EDIT] I just looked at an invoice for you. kc92 - t3 box (you might want a t4 though) bw72 - speaker terminal sj26 - 3mm spiral wrap bf87 - heatshrink
it's ok flix if i get all the parts together I think I will be able to do it. Thanks anyway. Tanks for the parts list LazyDemon I appreciate it. Whats one of these called?? The bit that looks like a lego block I need a maplin code for one of those aswell thnx?
its called a chocolate block or a connector block...allows you to join wires...much neater is to solder the two together and put heatshrink over the top...
46C isnt that big a deal. I used to OC with my dragon orb 3, and my T-bird was running at temps up to 70C (according to MBM5, which im starting to know, is a little pessimistic). When you OC, you temps should and will go up, and there is a limit to how much air cooling can do. Either someone has a miracle solution to your problem, either you live with it (even at 60C, your computer will be fine), or find an alternative method of cooling...
