im getting a variable enermax 120mm fan, and a fan fixing kit, how do i mount the fan 1" away from the rad (OCPC 'The Deep').

will the fan fixing kit even work with the RAD, if not, how the hell do i mount the fan?

what liquid solution should i use?

i dont really want waterwetter or purple foam stuff, is there any stuff i can get from the esso garage down the road? :D

    distilled water and something, right?

    thanks.

rip the fan bit out of an old 120mm and use the round outside bit between the enermax and the rad.
    i use 5% antifreeze in de-ionised water.

I used washers(the kind used in sinks) to space my radiator and fan, works pretty good. I've always been a water wetter man meself...you should get a bottle(some car shops have them) and some distilled water(from a pharmacy). Let us know how it goes :)

just how important is it for the fan to be mounted 1" away from the RAD, as i dont want to spend £10 on a 120mm fan just to take the frame of it...

Well the problem with fans is that theres a "dead" spot in the middle. Spacing it 1" from the fan will give you better flow through the radiator. You don't have to do it, but its for the better IMO.

I was going to used some threaded stud that you can get from good DIY shops comes in meter lengths. I was going to use this to mount the fan to the rad. If the diameter is to be big I was going to drill out super glue the studs and so on. Once this is done and the fan mounted I will make the shroud out of cardboard as a template and then use fibreglass or carbon fibre not decided.

As always will keep you posted.
