The OH needs to hang around an airport soonish and wants a FFP3 mask as they're melting pots.

Any recommendations? There's plenty on Amazon but how many are legit I have no idea.

Buy from a reputable supplier and cut 75% of concerns over the mask being a knock off that does nothing.
3M, Drager, Honeywell would be my go to brands from somewhere like Arco or RS

Cheers, yeah it was the named brands I thought I was going to have to fall back on. I guess they're pretty much of a muchness.

Everyone's different but I found the ones that hook behind the ear ineffective when compared to the ones that go around the head.

Your local Toolstation or Screwfix might also be handy for finding what you're after.

Good thinking and funnily enough I was just going to look at the Toolstation website.

For the most part they're only better than any other mask if they fit properly. If there's gaps then you may as well go with anything else as the filter won't be used. Air takes the least path of resistance. As is typical, the fits are based on European men, which caused all sorts of problems among nurses during the worst of the pandemic.

If you do find one and go with it, make sure it has a bidirectional filter. Some only filter in one direction, so you're breathing out unfiltered which can be worse for those around you than a cloth mask.

I've found the opposite: most of the FFP2s I bought were too small for my mahoosive fizzog, apparently being based on Chinese head sizes. Oddly, that was even true of the ones that weren't from a Chinese brand: I've a box of "Amazon Professional" FFP2s, and they're just that bit too small - I have to wear a mask brace to get a good seal.

I'll be honest I don't know what a "european man's" face shape is. Are we talking Spanish or Norwegian?

My OH is European and 17% of my DNA is so hopefully they'll be ok

It's actually based on a guy from Sheffield, aka "the Sheffield head".

First episode of the Visible Women podcast is about PPE sizing, and they manage to track the guy down. It's a really interesting listen.

That sounds like so much of a wind up it must be true.

All good for me then, very Yorkshire genes.

Peaked my interest though, I may just have to give that a listen
