i found XII not that bad acually...i would have prefered more eneimes in certain locations but nothing put my in my place more than when i first stumbled on an elemental and tried to take it on...:S not managed to complete it as i got into pc gaming more
Yeah I think that was my problem too, by the time it came out on the PS2, I was into PC and my xbox 360. I didn't actually think there was anything bad about the bits I played of it. I think I should pick it up again really. That said, I still need to complete 9 and 10.
Thanks guys, am def gonna pick this one up when it comes to steam then. Rep and 2-headed puppies all round!
I don't know what this Steam version is/will be, but it won't be the HD remake that everyone wants. It'll probably just be a GoG-style version with updates/mods/etc to make it work on modern graphics adapters and under modern OS's. Just go mod the PC version yourself; you'll get updated character models & textures, updated battle arenas, etc, as well as compatibility with modern OS'. It's a complete faff to install the whole lot though... FF7 didn't track completion, but I'm pretty sure I've completed it 100% several times: all materias (100% mastered - most of them mastered several times), all master materias, all WEAPONs defeated, all bonus/secret areas discovered (such as the one in the Northern Cave that I missed so many times), all chars at full level, etc... I had at least two save files with over 160 hours each stored on old PS1 memory cards at one point; I dug them out not long ago, and now they refuse to be read
I can't belive this hasn't been done already ill defiantly be buying any final fantasy they put on steam.
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/07/04/final-fantasy-vii-is-coming-to-pc Sharpen those Buster Swords, its coming guys!
OK all you FF buffs, why should I play this game? I know nothing about the series at all but have always enjoyed RPGs on the PC. What makes the Final Fantasy series so universally popular? (Note I haven't owned a console for over a decade, and only ever used them for driving games).
My are happy about this! Edit: though it looks no different. Do Square not god damn know how this would sell if they properly remade it!
You're missing Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Though you're probably not missing anything by not playing Dirge of Cerberus. The only reason it's worth playing is because it's a FFVII title; other than that it's a pretty dismal game. EDIT: And is that a budget/classics copy of VIII? You didn't buy it when it was released...?
Nice to see it confirmed, it'll no doubt make lots of money so hopefully that will convince them to re-release the rest of the games.
I've thought that ever since that tech demo. It would easily become the fastest selling play station game ever.
Have you done that with FFX-2 Spoiler to unlock the post-credits cut scene where Tidus is brought back to life?
No I didn't play either of them. But I did unlock Cloud in tactics when I had a chipped original playstation! Yes that is a classics copy of VIII, my original got damaged and sold on a long time ago. The hawk eyed among you will notice I have 2 copies of VI - which many consider the best FF game. Who wants it? If you can show your a die hard FF fan that hasn't played VI then you can have it for free I haven't bought a PS3 since they were released but, no word of a lie, I would buy one just for a FFVII remake.
I've already got it so I wont make an attempt but rep for the gesture Someone will surely want it. (Although it could be argued that you're not a die hard FF fan without VI ) I also notice that you don;t have Kingdom Hearts 1/2, I know they're very different and considered more childish but I urge you (and any other FF fans for that matter) to give them a go; the FF links (not just in characters), exploration needed to find everything and Disneyfication make it a really great bit of gaming fun. Along those lines another one is Star Ocean:Til The End Of Time (PS2 as well). It's absolutely colossal, some would say there's too much to do, but the way the combat works is absolutely perfect. The monsters are visible when roaming the world but don't freely attack like in FFXII, you run to them (or them to you sometimes) and it moves to a battle screen in which it's free control and has an FF menu for spells and stuff. It's hard to describe it accurately but it's the best FF style combat I've ever played.
Must. Not. Read. Your. Posts. Dammit!! + rep for the star ocean suggestion, I did try out kingdom hearts I when it was released but not throughly. Looks like my PS2 is going to have a work out
All three are great games there is also a special edition japanese version of kingdom of hearts if you can find one somewhere http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43-49-en-70-1smf.html
Tries Skies of Arcadia too if have an old Dreamcast or Gamecube lying around . One of my all time favourite RPGs.
