Networks fibre upgrade

    im currently on medium fibre with talktalk was thinking of moving up to the large package had a quick look at my connection stats would it be a good idea as Maximum downstream rate (kbit/s):
    76256
    as there web site reckons i would only get around 40mb
    am only 700m away from exchange advice please

    have you confirmed whether talktalk have their own fibre equipment there, as they may be limited to 40 because of their agreement with reselling BT at your exchange

    Max attainable rates reported by the modem are best case scenario, you never really want to provision past 90% (even less if you have IPTV) of that, unless you want your packet loss to shoot through the roof. VDSL2 with phyR/G.inp make things a lot better than ADSL 2+ ever was, but it's still not perfect.
