I noticed the other day that all of the vinyl tubes in my setup have a faint white film on them. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be from? I have a res made from polycarbonate and acrylic and it is crystal clear as is the coolant. so what ever it is is only on the vinyl. My coolant is glycol/demineralized water and has been in for about 2 months. Also I have no aluminum or brass in my loop, only copper.

The same phenomonon affects my Tygon tubing.
    Dunno what it is.

It must be something in the antifreeze cause I'm using deionized water also.

nope. Just antifreeze (glycol) and demineralized water in about a 15% mix.

Most additives will leave a thin opaque film on the tubing, whether Water Wetter, Zerex or any other stuff. Glycol may do the same because I suspect it is a little harsh on the PVC.

Well it doesn't matter much now. My computer went up in smoke sometime over night. As fas as I can tell right now the res came apart (glued seams split), and spilled about a liter or so and then my "submersible only" pump ran dry for quite a while and went up in smoke. I'll be sifting through the reckage later and it looks like I'll be starting my first thread in the Disaster Mods section. :sigh: It looks like it blowd up real good!
