I think I have finally chosen what I need for my first ever build after lots of research and advice from here and I'm just hoping someone can have a quick look please and see if everything I have picked is all compatible and reasonable choices as I'm going to buy it all tomorrow.

I don't know too much about PCs since I've been running an off the shelf mac for the last 8 years.

The main use of this will be freelance graphic design work using Adobe CS5 and also some intermediate level music production and DJ packages. I am not really that into gaming but I'm sure I will probably pick up the odd game here or there.

A mate of mine has been explaining overclocking to me and this seems like the way to go so this needs to be a good/easy overclockable system although he will be doing this for me.

The main reason for the choice of GPU is for ease of using 3 monitors.

    My budget is £1000.

    Motherboard - MSI P67A-GD53 - £105 (ebuyer)

    CPU - Intel Core i5 - 2500K 3.3 GHz - £161 (ebuyer)

    RAM - Corsair Vengeance Jet Black LP 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz - £69 (scan.co.uk)

Cooling - Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced - £43 (ebuyer)

    Hard Disk - 2 x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - £80 (scan.co.uk)

    Crucial Real SSD M4 64GB solid state drive - £90 (scan.co.uk)

    Optical Drive - Samsung SH-S223/BEBE - £15 (scan.co.uk)

    Case - Fractal R3 (Titanium) - £91 (scan.co.uk)

    PSU - Antec TruePower New TP-650 - £81.74 (Currys/PC World)

    Sound Card - M-Audio Audiophile 2496 - £66 (scan.co.uk)

    Graphics Card - Sapphire 5770 Flex - £123 (ebuyer)

Great build! The Fractal is fantastic for a multi HDD/SSD rig I have 6 running in mine. However both the Fractal and Crucial SSD package lack the so called 2.5" HDD/SSD screws necessary to mount the SSD. You can probably get them from a general hardware store or take the lazy option and buy them from ebay...

Also I would suggest a decent exhaust fan. For performance the Scythe Gentle Typhoon is excellent rated at 1850RPM but for silence the Be Quiet! USC Silent Wings is a decent option. Besides that I would recommend picking up some cable ties and get 20 posts on these forums for free weekday postage from SCAN...

Get the PSU from somewhere else. The rest is fine.
