Well. That was different. Talk about a cliffhanger ending that may (or may not have any resolution, according to Joss). All in all, I liked it - especially Spike finally getting an appreciative audience for his Poetry! But WTF was with the hastily cut together 'thank-you' at the end?
Okay here's what happened: Angel convinces the gang to take on the Black Thorn gang, and also recruits Lindsay to help as well Angel is called to a meeting where the Black Thorn want evidence of his loyalty to the group, and as proof he signs away his rights on the Shansu prophecy. The rest of the gang have a day off and do the stuff they want, as it's possibly the last day they'll be alive: Spike goes to a dodgy looking bar, but it's actually an open mic poetry place. Gunn goes and helps out the Girl who runs the homeless shelter from a couple of seasons back. Lorne sings. Wesley and Ilyria talk about her becoming Fred for the day, but Wesley turns the offer down. Angel spends the day with Conner. Lindsay spends the day with Eve. When the smack down happens: Spike retrieves the Baby that was taken by the Demon group who where going to use it as a sacrifice when it had grown up, killing all the demons. Gunn takes out the female politician and her band of vamps. Lindsey kills the Duke's demon body guards. Illyria takes out the Devil looking demon and several other Black Thorn members. Wesley tries to kill Cyrus, the Demon that constructed the new reality for Conner. He fails to kill him, getting mortally wounded in the process. Illyria arrives, and kills Cyrus, and comforts Wesley in his dying minutes by becoming Fred. Angel has the mother of all battles with Hamilton. Hamilton knows what's been going on because he's been sleeping with Harmony for the past couple of weeks, and she's told him everything. Just as Angel is loosing, Conner turns up to help. Angel lets slip to Hamilton that the Duke is already dead, as he poisoned the Dukes Manservant - the one that the Duke drinks the blood of. Hamilton pontificates for a while, and lets slip that the power of Wolfram & Hart is in his blood. Angel vamps out, feeds on him and gets the same strength, allowing him to defeat Hamilton. Connor goes home. Lorne does one final job for Angel before quitting the gang - He assassinates Lindsay. The remaining members of the gang meet up at a pre arranged location. There's only Gunn (who's bleeding heavily), Spike, Angel and a very pissed of Illyria, left. All hell is being let loose. Literally. Hordes of demons are running down the alley toward them , Dragons flying in the sky etc. Series ends with our heroes knowing that they face the end, as they can't possibly win, but they fight anyway. Fade to black as they run to attack the demon horde. The end.
It was a pretty good episode all in all Spike: In terms of a plan? Angel: We fight. Spike: Bit more specific. Angel: Well, personally, I kind of want to slay the dragon. Let's go to work.
