Are all in one water coolers any good? Was looking to use a Gelid Tranquillo to cool my Core I5 2500K but wondered if there was any advantage to using an Antec H20 620 or a Corsair H50?
Performance isn't really better than the top air coolers, they cost more, and you lose a spot for intake/exhaust. ..You get to tell people that your system is watercooled!
You don't need a high end cooler for a sandy bridge build. You should definitely replace the stock cooler for an overclock, but something mid-range or quiet is ok. Self contained water cooling is really convenient but not necessary. Air is fine for sandy bridge CPUs.
Cool. If you were building new then one of the ''Be Quiet!" range are in favour atm ... But no need here .. The tranquil is more than enough.
I've actually found that on an overclocked system, I get better temps with a H50 in push/pull config than I did with my titan.
my H50 has proven to be both quieter and slightly more effective than most high end air coolers that ive used. you dont have all the added stress of a huge chunk of metal levering against your motherboard. you have mounting flexibility. i got the h50 because the case its in is rather narrow and interference with the side fan was a concern. with the h50 acting as exhaust, all of the CPUs hot air is dumped directly outside of the case, lowering overall case temps.
If you wanted to go down the water cooling seperates route you could check out ek's Pre made kits, they are very keenly priced
+1 for Tranquillo. Got it cooling a 2500k at 4.6Ghz currently. Doing folding as we speak and it sits at 58 degrees (23 degree air temp)
I'm getting a H70 for my LAN its build I'm planning, tis good as a full air tower won't fit in the case, and obviously I'll be moving it about quite a bit.
