heres the finished product.. man my camera sucks, i need more than 640x480.. hehe anyway, its really brighter than that, my cam doesnt pick up light in a dark surrounding very well at all. but those are still my green superbright leds lighting the rig up, next step, mounting me blue CCFL and putting the side window in.. the cutting was easy, fighting with that retarded rubber molding was the real bugger.. plus while i had the top off i desoldered that damn piezo beeper off my digital doc.. anyway heres the pics.. -scoob8000
hrmm i didnt even think of opening up the floppy.. however i did want to cut open the PSU, but after closer inspection i noticed all the inards are mounted upside down, so if i cut a hole in the top all youll really see is the backside of the PCB..
Then turn the PSU upside down Just need an extra couple of holes drilled in the case to match the new hole layout on the psu. Flymo
that might not be a bad idea... how thick of plexi would you use for sumthin like that??? maybe shove an LED in there too, light her on up.... not like u dont have the power in there!
Heck, any clear plastic would do as the PSU is inside the case. I've even seen it done using a CD case. FLYMO
i considered drilling the case and flipping the psu around, but the cutout on the back for the fan and plug, etc would need to be cut out too since its not really a rectangle, the opening is just right for the psu the way its mounted.. what i really wanted to do was mount a clear fan in the top of the psu for extra airflow and you could still see in.. since with my new window i took out my 120mm, which never ran very often anyway..
you think that took guts? try mustering up the courage to cut your first window in a £250 case! that took a lot of pursuasion i can tell you! still, nice mod m8, w-done
guts in my book, because i know how shoddy i am when it comes to things like this, i used a hand nibbler, since i knew if i used a zizz wheel or jigsaw, you dont even wanna know how it would look..
