Hi, ive got a problem with mac osx as the title says, the finder is usuing over 100% og the CPU (activity monitor is telling me this) this only happens after about 2 hours of use of the laptop and when it does, the fans come on full because it starts to get incredibly hot, i put a temp monitor on which recorded a temperature of 85 degrees. Ive archived and installed once already and it made no difference, i was wondering if u guys had any suggestions? Also everything else grinds to a hault and i cant run any apps.
Well I couldn't explain why it's happening (perhaps something with a network share? they do odd things for me sometimes), but the over 100% is because for some stupid reason dual cores gives you 200% to work with. Updated to the latest firmware, OS X 10.4.9, etc? Are you aware of any actions that cause this, or does it seem totally random?
Hey thanks for the quick reply mate, i did some research on the net and after about an hour i found a thread from years ago on another forum, saying mac is x did this if an icon had become corrupted on the desktop. So i deleted all my new pictures which i put on the desktop yesterday and worked like a charm!
Wow... what a bizarre thing. Glad you got it fixed I was about to scold you for storing stuff on the desktop, but realized mine could do with a bit of cleaning too. Stupid schoolwork and screenshots.
