Is really hard nowadays. My sisters old iPhone 5 is showing its age, and I suggested she move to Android rather than paying £450 for a new iphone, but to be honest, I can't find a phone for around the £250 mark that isn't 5.5" or more. I've just purchased a Redmi 3 Pro from China myself, but I want her to have UK warranty and ROM etc in case anything goes wrong. Tempted just to tell her to buy an iPhone now. Any ideas?
Xperia Z5 Compact? About the only ding against it is being 1280x720, but in every other sense it's a high-end compact phone. Looks like it goes for just below £300 new (unlocked).
My Z3 Compact is all you could need from a flagship, except it can actually be used by human hands. The Z5 Compact is effectively the same phone except brought up to date with various bits and bobs.

I have a Z5 Compact and it's a nice 'little' phone. It's obviously not that little but compared to almost everything else out there it's pretty small. It will be quite a change from a smaller iPhone, though.
+1 Sitting here with Nokia N9. Android has been stuck in a state where you need big form factor to cram all the HW for descent performance while having adequate battery life and thermal management for a while now. Cant see that changing any time soon. Was thinking on moving to Z5C, but cant really justify spending that much on phone with glass back, thermal issues , no wireless charging and not so great battery life.
Honor 7? 5.2" £209.99 https://www.vmall.eu/uk/honor-7-mystery-grey-290191/ Android 5.1 upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. EMUI skin which is a bit iOS looking. Device itself is actually not that big really.
Is lenovo isn't available there If Lenovo k5 is too good, others are vibe, and k3 is also good but 5", rather than you can opt for moto g4+or moto x.
How about a Moto G? great phones and have stock android on them, theres often deals on the 3rd generation model
OnePlus X is around £190 now, 5 inch good specs and build quality. iPhone SE not sure on prices for these but would be ideal too
