I should have a parcel which was sent First Class last Thursday morning, I don't I don't have a card to say they couldn't deliver or that it was with a neighbour, but there is a potential I wouldn't have one because I live in an apartment building which means they often don't bother coming inside. This has happened so many times I am getting quite tired of it. So before I spend time on the phone (on hold normally) to RM, does anyone know if they are able to tell you if they have your mail at the depot without me providing any sort of delivery number or red card? Thanks
I think it depends if it's recorded or not. Recorded ones get scanned and their last location can be found but regular items just get shoved in a bag. Was it valuable? I posted something recorded once (a letter containing gig tickets). About 5 days later the recipient phoned to say he still hadn't recieved it. I looked up the tracking number and it wasn't even in the system. I went down to the branch I posted at and they looked it up and told me it must be incorrect. When I showed them the reciept from THAT branch with the details on it the looked around and found it IN A DRAWER. It hadn't even been posted. I got them to upgrade it to Special Delivery before 9am for free to guarentee it arrived asap. Try getting the sender to go to their branch and chase it up from that end too, might be worth a punt. Royal Fail.
Unlikely Its a bit of a bitch really because if the parcel does'nt get delivered and its not insured their is very little you can do about it. I've had two go walk about from this forum, never turned up from reputable sellers one was insured which required me to get the seller to fill out the forms to claim for it Even then the claim was rejected
Two things: 1) Never use untracked delivery services for anything other than low value items that you can stand to lose. Tell the same to people who need to send you parcels. 2) If you live in a block of flats or apartment building get your parcel delivered to work or a nearby friend/relative in a house - assuming you know they will be in. But yeah, you might get lucky if you ignore the two points above.
It was from an online store so I am not too worried about eventually getting my item, just wanted it before this weekend ideally. @Shirty 1) I couldn't chose the delivery type, just regular or Saturday courier. If I ever send anything of value it will always be courier or Special Delivery if it is small. 2) The problem is I don't know anyone who lives in a house who is actually home during the day. I have had problems in the past getting items delivered to work that never actually arrived, just a card, and when I went to go collect they were very fussy about giving me the parcel without proof of address. Funny though, whenever I go to collect a parcel to the address on my drivers licence, I never get asked! Sods law I guess. I have contacted the shop and they said if it isn't here by tomorrow, let them know and they will sort something out.
