hi, i have a fingerprint scanner so i dont have to type in my passwords for any of my sites anymore because i have so many. but ever since i got this scanner i have been thinking about replacing my push button power button with this. so like scan your finger and the computer will turn on. is there any way to make this work????
First off creating so many threads asking the same question is not the way to get awnsers quicker!!!!!!!! Second i am not sure how you would do this with your type of device, i think there is a fingerprint reader on the market to do this at the moment although i am not sure it is not my field. good luck if someone helps you with it though, very intersting idea.
First off, welcome to the forums, both of you. It was probably an accident, give the benefit of the doubt and Im sure a mod will clear it up as soon as they see it. As far as I know all the consumer fingerprint scanners use the computer they are attached to in order to process the scan and store passwords which would make using one as a power switch pretty difficult. It might be possible to take something like a fingerprint door lock and mod it to operate a relay attached in place of the power switch, however, it wouldnt then work to enter passwords. By the way, firefox has an option to hold a list of passwords and sign in names so that once you enter the master password it will automaticly enter the sign in name and password for any of the sites youve given it the password to, very useful. Sorry for multiple posts ya i didnt mean to make so many only one. my pop up blocker kept saying pop up blocked so i tried to turn it off and failed three times and finally got it off to find out that it was just a popup saying successfully posted. lol neway thx for responding and i hope i can try to figure this out. it would definately be very unique. and the envy of most of my friends.
