So the Fios guy left my house a few hours ago, and I just got around to configuring my wireless on their router and running me a speedtest... I think the results here speak for themselves.
What's that costing you a month? It's a shame there's only one choice for internet up here in Alaska...
Just over $40 a month. Oddly enough, the service level I pay for is only supposed to get 15Mb/s down and 5Mb/s up. Oh well, I'll take it
wireless G or N maxes out at well past those speeds. it shouldn't make any difference whether he's connected wired or wireless.
AT&T has fiber-optic internet too, but its implementation is slightly different than Verizon's. I think AT&T runs a fiber optic cable to a single box for a neighborhood or area, and uses traditional copper to get from there to each house; Fios runs fiber-optics to the premises and then runs coax or ethernet to their router. @Djo: The screenshot above is on ethernet from the router to my computer; on wireless g across the house, I get around 23Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up.
AT@T is doin it wrong. And why are government mandates on the internet even up anymore??? I can only get TWC..
that's pretty good stuff shen- better get calling and see what's up.. need to renegotiate a few bills you probably should add some game servers on that kind of bandwidth =]
Oh FFS. I didn't see that. I can't wait until they offer that connection where I live, Chicago's north suburbs don't get any love.
