Does it get any better? Ive watch 3 episodes and im wholey unconvinced about this space-wildwest-esq thing going on. For starters the WHOLE crew just doesnt fit.. at all. Some are worse than others like the Captain and Chief Engineer but it just doesnt really work at all. And it's just soo damn boring. The 1.5 hour piolt was just pretty crap tbh, as pilots go.

Meh. Is it worth me watching the rest?

Guess it is a matter of taste :) I thought Firefly was brilliant, refreshing, and exciting. The crew isn't meant to fit together, they are misfits thrown together and dealing with the situation as umm well badly as possible mostly.

Does she just get funny later? Cause after 3 episodes it's about as funny as eating dog turds.

They may not be meant to fit together but they're about as believeable as saying you own a flock of geece that lay golden eggs.

    Jayne is a bloke :p
hes the slightly psycho one that just wants to fight everyone/thing

edit: oh an what order have you beeen watching it in? the aired order makes no sense, they have the ep where they pick up passengers halfway through the series...

I did it the DVD way, where they pick them up on the second episode.

The whole "cowboys in space" thing is totally trashed by Cowboy Bebop, which, admitidly is a completely different substory (bounty hunters, not salvagers) but it's still far FAR better.

I thought firefly was fantastic, and can't wait for the feature film Serenity to come out.

I'm not sure eating dog turds in necessarily unfunny...it's just gross. Actually by the Jackass rule of thumb it's top notch humour, they'd have got an episode or two out of that.

I liked Firefly a lot, but if the humour and character relationships don't work for you from the first few episodes I doubt it'll grow on you. If anything as the series progresses the stories are more driven by the characters and their interactions.

I thought Firefly was great; Mal, imo, was a more enigmatic and realistic Han Solo. I thought the crew dynamics were interesting and help to drive the show when the plot didn't. Give it a few more episodes, but as the others have said, if you hate it so much after seeing 3 it doesn't change a whole lot.

ARGH, God, cmon, Harrison Ford as Han Solo was one of the best characters in cinema history. He's a complete classic. He makes Empire strikes back and Return of the Jedi with Chewy.

I never said that Mal was a better character, merely that I found him to be similar and interesting. A review of Firefox put it very well saying that Mal was like a Han Solo that shot Greedo first.

    Thread revival!
Only because I've just started watching this, just finished the pilot. Little long but I quite enjoyed it.
There aren't too many episodes in the series so I'm sure I'll get through them all, enjoy it and that will be that.
Not a big fan of Sci-Fi but quite enjoying this so far.

I was given the boxed set by a mate.

I saw Serenity a while back and didn't think too much of it. Some decent scenes and enjoyed the shooty shooty in space. The series is fun enough and I've been getting into it more.

Thus far, I think this is the only Joss Whedon thing worth any amount of my time.

I know it's played-out to complain about Firefly's demise, but seriously....Bring back Firefly!

The show was a breath of fresh air compared to how stagnated sci-fi television (and film) has become. I would gladly sacrifice the entire SyFy network (then piss on its smouldering ashes) for one more season of Firefly.

All we're now left with are low budget, genre-fan-pandering, campy, serialised abominations 'starring' terrible actors who only have jobs because they appeal to nerds who like women to be docile, slightly geeky and non-threatening as possible and men to be generically hansom versions of themselves. Ugh.

I doubt we'll see anything as stylish and awesome as early-season Battlestar Galactica and Firefly for a long time. Especially now Slingers isn't happening. :(
