But why, pray tell? Is it because all the big hitters on the development team are now picking up their paychecks from Searchzilla? ZDNet speculates. Wackily. ;)

The launch of the next version of Firefox has slipped three months, but allegations that Google is the root cause have been dismissed as 'wacky speculation'

Firefox 1.1 will be released three months later than originally planned, according to Ben Goodger, the lead programmer on Firefox.

"In a move that I would hope should surprise exactly nobody, we're pushing back 1.1 by a little bit because of the realities of the work remaining to be done," said Goodger, in a blog posting last week.

Some reports have speculated that the change in date was caused by Goodger's recent move to Google. But Goodger denied these reports in a later post.

More wacky speculation and rebuttal here

TBH when they first said that deadline i thought it was a bit soon, after reading the daily updates for a while, it seemed like too much of a task. basicly they had to re-write firefox :s

    EDIT:

one of the bugs in the releases over the last few weeks is that copy and paste didnt work, i thinks thats now been fixed thank god :D

Yeah I've been having that issue... only copying into emails I think though. I found using the "paste unformatted" or something in the thunderbird menu tends to get around it when it happens although it mangles the appearance.

1.1 is a merging of 2 branches... the one they used for Firefox 1.0 and most of the other bits n bobs they wanted added to it that are already part of the Mozilla Suite browser... plus a few hundred bug fixes that didn't make it into the 1.0 release in time. Or something like that... if I'm talking out of my ass, I will stand corrected. :D

No one has ever said Firefox was perfect, I doubt any software program ever could be. IMO it's just miles better than the competition.

Sorry about being offtopic but just a quick question.

I have flashget (a multi connection download accelerator) and to download links quickly i just right click link and press download all by flashget or download this link by flashget in IE, but I have firefox and I doesn't exist in the list when I right click, is there a way to fix this or I have to change some registry entries ???

    Thanks..
