There's probably a XUL error in an old extension. Do what Hamish said. :)

    UK version now available.

Not a smooth upgrade. 1.5 deleted all my own search engines, and a good half of my extensions don't work in 1.5 despite the extra week delay -- Titlebar Tweaks, Statusbar Clock, ChromEdit, SpellBound, External Application Buttons, some others. Some have been upgraded by concerned bystanders so it's worth searching away from the normal extension sites.

Search box didn't work at all, with any engine. Fix was to delete Searchbar Button extension and reinstall the latest version. Sorting search engines into alphabetical order using a numbered list in about:config no longer works, though I found an extension that will do it by drag&drop.

All in all, it's not going to keep n00b Joe Public converted to Firefox. He doesn't want this hassle every time he upgrades. :wallbash:

I haven't experienced any problems, I was using RC2 and 2 for a while too (was gone when RC3 was released). The download manager tweak I like took a while for the author to update too but nothing big. It's nice to see inovation as oppsed to the MS model- will Bill ever release a new version of IE?

Yes, there is a new version of IE coming. It'll ship with Vista, and with any luck be available for XP too, they probably won't support 2000 with it though.

I upgraded to 1.5 a few days ago, and today windows crashed, taking out all my bookmarks :grr:

Turns out, it now makes regular backups, I didn't lose a single one :D

And now you can move tabs about, something I always thought you shold be able to do.

    Firefox... :thumb:

Forget what I said about Tab Mix Plus, I switched over after getting very fed up with TBE. The latest version (0.3) is incredible... it's so much faster than previous versions! And that annoying "Open Tab In New Window" link which sat at the top of the context menu on links has been removed! Excellent!!

I found Tab Mix Plus as well. Very nice and I no longer have the problem of clicking on a thread's page number and it not opening to that page. :duh:

I also now use IE Tab rather than IE View. It opens a tab in FF using IE. :hip:

Hmm... sounds useful. I might try that out, I always use IE to access my email from anywhere but home. Would be nice just to use Firefox instead.

One thing I like about Tab Mix is the 'Restore Last Session'. I can shut & reopen Firefox after making config changes or updating an extension and it's back just like it was.

I don't have a "Home Page" as such, just carry on with whatever was open last time I browsed.

edit: Having just updated to TM+ 0.3 it didn't pick up all my settings from the old version, which explains why Quack's context menu item had gone - I've had to check a couple I usually use, like the Undo list and get rid of the Tab Close marker. Some nice features been added, my "Restore Last Session" now keeps a record of closed tabs. :thumb:

edit2: I can't get rid of the bloody Close Tab marker. Buggy. :duh:

edit3: A second "Show Close Tab marker" box under the 'Tab' tab. Oops, my bad.

It carried most of my settings over, just a few had been reset to defaults - like the close button on every tab, which I got rid of, like you. I'm perfectly happy with the one close button on the right of the tab bar.

It also changed the option for what page I want opened on a new tab - my home page, I am guessing that the author changed a few names of settings variables which is why my choices had been lost.

A few clicks here and a few there and everything is back as it was. :)
