What's up with Mozilla? Seems only yesterday we were using version 3.x.
Now don't get me wrong, I like the changes from the 3.x series, but are they just trying to catch up to Internet Explorer version numbers so their product doesn't seem antiquated, or do they put in that much new code that a new major version is needed?

haha I was just about to create the exact same thread

Wiki says it's to match Chrome's update rate... I think it's just ridiculous and childish. They'll never be able to build "hype" for the "next big version" if they keep going like this

They've moved to a fast-paced release schedule. Apparently it means they get more bugs fixed and can keep it upto date security wise etc.

How true all that is i don't know i've just read it on various sites, althought it's going to get ridiculous because soon enough we'll be on version 12 or something stupid.

Although having said that i have Aurora installed on my pc and for what is effectively a alpha/beta it's incredibly stable.

Stopped using firefox when chrome came out, as loved the simplicity of it - Firefox is desperate to make up lost ground after killing their browser with add ons. it would have to be amazing to make me go back, and the trouble with browsers is I just want it to work and work quickly, and until Chrome gets worse I wont be changing.

Have just updated usual problems. Certain add-ons do not work with the new version of Firefox as well as a problem that I thought they had sorted it in version 4, its taking up 756 MB WTF :duh:

Firefox I love you, Firefox I love you not, Firefox I love you, Firefox I love you not, Firefox I love you, Firefox I love you not :waah:

At least in FF6 they've finally fixed the issue with garbled scrollbars (redraw issue), when you use FF via Remote Desktop. I logged that bug for FF4. Never got a reply, then it mysteriously vanished. Alas, now it finally seems to be fixed.

Changing versioning systems is nothing new. It may well be to compete with the likes of Chrome, but that's up to them I guess. There's talk of them abandoning a version number altogether as far as the user is concerned.

Ugh, heaps of my addons are broken again. Yes, I know some people will blame the addon developers, but ugh, I'm sick of this super fast rollout of major versions.

On my mac I am still on 3.6 - All the plugins are suported, and it works.

on the home PC, it's FF4, which crashes constantly.
I have downloaded version 6, but to be frank - I NEED my plugins for my work, and as such, am slow to adopt.

I don't NEED my plugins, but I want them, and as there are some that don't work with FF6, I'm not moving anywhere.

I'm quite tempted to go back to 4.x as when I use the "Go Advanced" reply page on this forum, all the anim gifs make it lag like hell.

(Or I might use stylish to hide them, since I never use em - stylish being one of the addons that doesn't work on the latest ed yet.)

Evernote plugin doesn't work with new version so I'm staying put.

I use both Firefox and Chrome, I really like the pinned app tabs in Firefox. But Chrome wins on simplicity.

Why don't you all just disable compatibility checking?
    about:config
    right click, new boolean
    name the entry - extensions.checkCompatibility.6.0
    set as false
Now most extension will work, as long as they are at least for version 4.
