Irrespective of addons and plugins being enabled or disabled, Firefox causes audio playback and cursor movements to stutter while it's loading pages, moving quickly down large pages or starting up; when I close it, the system hangs completely for up to 20 seconds. The error console is full of crap, but frankly I have no idea what it means or how to transpose it in a meaningful way here.

My system sprinkles Crysis on its cereal in the mornings, so it's not a lack of resources. I've twiddled around with CPU priorities and affinities - even putting winamp on one core and Firefox on the other makes no difference.

    Any ideas?

-edited title, on inspection it's not actually spiking CPU activity at all - barely a flicker. But still causing huge lag.

ha - I actually meant your Firefox profile, but that's a good idea too! Maybe try the new profile before actually nuking the other one though... :D
