I remember I used to have an app somewhere that let me establish quick URLs in IE so if I typed a word in the address bar, it would first check to see if that was in the list of quick URLs I set up, and if it was it would go to the site.

So I could type in bt and have it go to http://www.bit-tech.net or something like that.

Does anyone know of a way to do this in Firefox?

Couldn't you just edit your hosts file to show something like
    Code:
    DNS NAME IP ADDRESS

    bt 69.93.104.227

Nope, cos our apache boxes respond only to the hostname *.bit-tech.net :)

Plus not every website has its own IP. (at least not its own public IP anyway.) That's what NameServers are for, isn't it?

Anyway, I'd also assume that if there was a way to do that, there would also be a way to add custom details, so maybe if I typed in email username password it would automagically send my username and password to my online email account.

But I'm guessing there must not be anything too popular out yet, maybe I should learn to make my own extensions, eh steve?

Yeah! Come on slacker! It's not like you're working on anything else. ;) :hehe:

Plus if you build it I'll use it too.

EDIT: And just to show that I support you, maybe something in this Firefox Forum thread could help in building such a thing. :D
