    Firefox 0.9 is out

    Go get it at www.mozilla.org

I don't know y'all, but I was starting to get some Out of Memory errors on Firefox 0.8. Hopefully that has been fizxed in this version. Regardless....it's still the best browser out there! :thumb:

    Mozilla Firefox v0.9

In case anyone is interested, Mozilla Firebird...err...firefox  version 0.9 came out on June 14th. It is available for download at www.mozilla.org. They changed the GUI a little bit, but that's all I've noticed so far...

Most tech sites post a headline whenever a new version of firefox is release, but I haven't seen squat about this v0.9, hmm.....

Only Silver medal, Deviate gets Gold, threads merged
even still, my first medal ever! woot!!!

Got it, working, and its great. Upgrade from 0.8 imported everything bar my themes which was easy enough to re-download.

Well there is now a Themes manager and an Extensions manager. I've been having problems with some extensions, but I found a fix that might work.

I liked the changes they made to the download manager in 0.8. It's still the same in 0.9. I haven't yet had the time to play with the theme manager, but I still miss the GUI from 0.7... :sigh:

The download manager has been a pain for me. When I start a download and it pops up, that browser always freezes for a second before it starts downloading and freezes when it ends for a second. Anyone annoyed by this? :blah:

I haven't noticed that yet. I'll try it when I get home and see if I can reproduce it. On another note, anyone else tried to do a Windows update through Firefox? Hehe, not so much....

Yeh, its becuase instead of saving to the place yous epcify it saves to a temp directory then copies it over when done. But yeh, the download manager now launches the file instead of jsut the directory which is good.

they completely changed the way it handles extensions and themes, so many extensions/themes will have to be modified to work with 0.9
most of the major ones already have
i think the new theme looks like ass tbh and i installed Qute again (the default 0.8 theme)
few bug fixes (memory leak is still there tho :\)

Why do I even bother? First post about Firefox in software forum since it is software. :D

I think the default theme looks quite plain and boring. I tried to install a different them, but the icons didn't change so I guess I did something wrong? Any idea why everything else changed but the back, forward, home, refresh, etc. stayed the same plain old look?

OK, I've awarded you the Gold & merged the two threads ;)

decided after a long time of hearing good things to try this out so i downloaded it and had a play deciding that it was indeed the dogs proverbial.

Anyway all was going awesome for about 2 days then all of a sudden it crashes as soon as i try and open it. Not changed any settings and was working before the engalnd game but now, can't even open it. Gonna try a complete reinstall but i was wondering if this was a known problem or if i'm special :D.

I did restart and then I just went a re-downloaded the theme from the same link and tried installing it again. And this time it took. Weird...whatever it works and that's what's important. :D

what i'd like to know is if anyone knows how to make it so that when i open firefox from a link (in my quicklaunch for example) if there is no current instance of firefox it opens a window, and if there is already a firefox window open, instead of opening another one it opens another tab.

ANyone know ow to mak eit open tabs instead of windows?

    cheers
