One improvement I have noticed is the cookie management now has more options :D Great for those delicious delicacies!

I wish I'd stayed with 0.8 for a bit longer, most of the extensions I had don't work now :(

Adblock is ok, Googlebar is ok (bit fiddly to get working if you had it installed previously though), DownloadManager works... maybe I'll just delete 0.9, remove all files/registry entries dealing with Firefox and reinstall it from scratch. Might be better, as the old extensions still exist but they're hidden and disabled.

A lot of the old extensions won't work in 0.9, check for newer versions. ;)

I'm leaving things a few weeks until all my extensions have been upgraded.

Thanks for the merge there cpemma. :D

The extensions that I use still seem to work in 0.9. Granted all I really use is IEView and Tab Browser. I completely removed Firefox 0.8 and then deleted all leftover Mozilla, Firefox, and Phoenix files and folders and then ran RegCleaner to remove any registry entries. Then I installed 0.9 and haven't had any problems yet.

I've checked, and there aren't any updates for a few of them. Hopefully the authors are on the ball and will release new ones soon.

What's happened to the "Open Link In New Tab" and "Open Link In Active Tab" options on the context menu of links? All I see is "Open Link In New Tab" which opens the link in an active tab, I liked being able to open pages in the background... without resorting to holding shift while clicking. Was this part of an extension or built-in? I can't actually remember.

I'm not sure I'm too keen on the new Extension and Theme managers, was there really a need to move them out of the main options?

I don't want the link to open in an ACTIVE tab though. I can't see a way of doing it without hitting Shift at the same time.

I agree, it's one of the best by far.

Anyway, I've reinstalled 0.9 completely at work and at home - seems to work a lot better than upgrading from 0.8 with a bunch of old extensions installed.

All I need now is TabBrowser Extensions and I'm set. :D

There is a way of doing that, can't remember how though. I only installed tabbrowser extensions yesterday but I had links loading in the background before that...

For some reason, at home if I right click on a link and select Open In New Tab, it opens in the background... but at work? It opens it in an active tab! *shakes head* I don't get it.

Its in the options somewhere, you just have to look hard enough :)

    Edit: tools>options>advanced>browsing>open links in background

Aha! I guess I must have that turned off at work or something. Anyway, thanks :)

Does TabBrowser Extensions work properly on 0.9 yet? It's hard to cope without it.

I've been using Mozilla for a while but I just like some of the different options on Firefox better. Seems a little cleaner also. :thumb:

Well I've just updated to 0.9.2 and now I don't seem to be able to click on half the submit buttons websites use for logging in etc. So I'm pretty much stuck having to use IE for those sites :waah:

Anyone else having this trouble? I've tried disabling all my extensions to see if it might have been caused by one misbehaving to no avail.

Thankfully the button for submitting a post/thread is working!

Found the problem. It's something to do with signons.txt (the file where Firefox saves your passwords). I totally reinstalled everything today and it's all working again :)

I recently converted... it's pretty good so far. Popup blocker is a nice touch although I have to unban entire sites to allow new window popups to other sites (like product links in forums)... oh well.

I've got a few questions though:

Is there any way to make the curser be a little more to the right in text boxes? It kinda overlaps the characters and tends to hide some quotes and I swear I've been hitting backspace three times more since converting.

Any way to make it automatically use Firefox if you type an address in the My Computer address bar in WinXP? I'm so used to doing that so half of my web windows are in MSIE still...

Any way to change the loading images things? Image-loaded pages definately take longer to load since MSIE seemed to download them in parallel where firefox does them one at a time. And the placeholder boxes drive me nuts, and it doesn't seem to show red x's when there's no image, just nothing at all (or maybe only when images have a specified size... need to find more dead images)

What's autoscrolling and smooth scrolling in advanced options? And if they have something to do with the scroll with cursor type of thing you get my pushing in the mouse wheel, is there any way so that'll disable when you scroll again like IE does?

And some of the options you guys have mentioned just aren't there for me at all. I have the adblock and things they left out plugins installed (two that caught my eye from maximum pc which had a firefox thing this month)... am I missing something?

One last thing... anyone know if there's some sort of "smart forward" type of plugin? Like if you start on page 1 of a 50 page log, just being able to click forward and it would automatically figure it out...

    Thanks

It's worth checking The Extension Room if you can't find your favourites at the Moz Update site, they're all there with various versions for 0.8 or 0.9+.

From comments in the Support forums, 0.9.0 came out a bit too soon, and 0.9.1 and 0.9.2 were quick fixes for some of the nastier bugs. If you're upgrading, it's very important to uninstall older versions first or weird things can happen.
Have you set Firefox as default browser? Run {url} works OK for me in 98SE, and clicking from Favorites on the Start menu does too.
Agreed. There's a version for 0.9+, works fine but seemed to slow things down. I swapped it for about 6 other extensions (TabBrowser Prefs, Undo Close Tab, Focus Last Selected Tab, Single Window, Close Tab on Double Click, etc) that still don't do everything TBE did and the sites were still slow, so it's back to TBE. :thumb:
