That is a very fresh and inventive way to hide the unused cables. I like it alot. Keep up the fantastic work!
Yeah...the overriding reason for the clips (and having Performance PCs do the sleeving and fan replacement) was so I wouldn't have to muck around the inside of my PSU. The clips I picked up here in Germany were fairly cheap...2 Euro for a pack of 10 assorted clips. They were in the bargain bin; you might find something similar at Walmart, too.
Quick Disconnects Quick Disconnects It's good to have a few days off from work. Quality moddin' time! I got my quick disconnects in the mail today. For 8mm (ID) tubing, these things are huge! Here's a picture...each square is 25.4mm x 25.4mm, to give you a sense of the size of these things: Honestly, I hadn't counted on the connects being so large...I was concerned that I mounted my pump too far forward to give these beasts adequate clearance. Note:The compression fittings shown in the picture were not included...but are required to connect the disconnects to the hose. (So don't forget to buy them if you're purchasing these disconnects!) Assembling the connects was fairly straightforward. Connect one end of hose to radiator compression fitting, the other to the compression fitting with the disconnect attached. I ensured the male disconnect went in the flow direction...the connections pretty snug, but I'd hate to have one pop loose "on accident"! The other half of the disconnect simply snaps into place...there's an audible click when they're properly mated. (Yes, I replaced the original black 120mm fan with an alumimum one from Performance PCs. It adds another shiny surface to reflect light off of, and IMO looks better!) And here's how the disconnects look in the case with a test fitting of hose. You can see that there's not a lot of room between the disconnects and the pump...guess I jumped the gun a bit on placing the pump in the case. Anyway, I had planned on connecting the pump to the near (right) disconnect...but it turned out to be a pretty tight fit. So, I reversed the disconnects on the radiator and connected the pump on the left side. Turns out I actually like this better...it's a much lower profile. Again, thanks for the encouragement! More soon!
wow.... what can i say but subscribbed? keep up the amazing work, i'll look forwards to seing it when your finished.
On Hold Due to Move All, Despite a hard push to get the Imperial ClearPC together before my upcoming move to Italy, it just didn't happen. The good news is that I now have all the parts I need to finish it ... the bad news is that it'll be another 30-45 days before I'll have the parts at my disposal to assemble. Just didn't want anyone to think that I'm abandoning this project. Look for a "grand reopening" update sometime late March or early April! SharkBait
I'm not too much of a Star Wars fan myself, but you just might be another Bit-Tech legend in the making! If you continue to build it like this, you'll soon find yourself in the same list as G-gnome and ZapWizard!
well...... It is now May and you have yet to return to us. J/K I was just catching up on some of the projects and noticed that you haven't updated in a while. so....
WOW! Not much of a Star Wars fan myself (Fantasy is my genre of choice), but I have to say you have done some amazing work so far. I'll follow everyone else here in thinking that this may be another one of the legendary case mods here at Bit-Tech, sitting alongside those by G-gnome, ZapWizard, Piloux and the rest. I like your idea to use the Emporor's window as a fan grill; that design is very unique. I also like Jesse's idea of lightly hammering it to give it a rounded effect, just like the movie. Have you given any thought to that? And to think, now that you're in Italy, you are surrounded by some of the world's most awe-inspiring art...that must be so nice!! Looking good so far, keep up the good work -monkey
Well, it's now June and I still haven't posted an update. Part of it is due to getting internet access at my new abode--difficult when you no parlo italiano--and part of it is due to me currently being stateside for 30 days. Never fear, tho...the project's still underway and as soon as I return to Italy and get my DSL connection up and running, I'll post some updates. Hopefully, it'll be in July...no promises, tho! Or you can always take classes. Not to mention if you have taken spanish you should be able to just get the grasp of what someone says in Italian (always try watching the spanish channel on il televisione)
