Modding First mod to come...

Duffman here, not a big poster on these boards, but I started to recently build a wooden cobination xbox/pc mini box, a media box, it will be stained, it will be badass.

Heres my story...
My dad has a house upstate ny, and hes rebuilding it himself, I gave him some dimensions to make me a plain box, no front yet, he made it its nice. But I am without proper tools, so I shabily put it together with glue and crappy cuts, not worthy of this site. I am now rebuilding it with some aquired tools and will make it nice. He has a spare dremel at his house Im gonna get sometime this weekend. Thought I'd share what will be comeing, looking for some idea's to think about until i get the dremel. So ideas people ideas =p.

Anyways, duffman, chill out...rules are here for a reason so everyone can find what they're looking for! When it's a work in progress that has progress pictures, the mods may move it to the project logs (though I dare not question the authority of the mod ).

So this will be an Xbox and a PC in one box? All-in-one entertainment...you gonna hook your pc to the tv?

 

yeah I have a 9000 Pro AIW in that box, and the xbox is chipped, Im gonna use the pc as a storage box and whatnot, and the xbox can play all the media. Im gonnna need help setitng up the network to make everthing work together though.

 

Awesome! This should turn out really well, then. I'll look forward to seeing the ongoing project and the end results!

OK here they are...

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the power supply on an xbox, but the ATX cable is about 3 inches long tops, which limited the possibilty of this mod too much. So I cut a bunch of wire strips off and old psu and soldered extentions onto the PSU. It was crappy but worked, now in the new and improved mod I made it neat nice, and resoldered a lot... Here they are

This is the video card going up top on the box with tv out, a 9000 pro AIW.

The finished piece will be a bit nicer and less shabby but I ran out of electrical tape.

And if I haven't mentioned yet, this is a poor mans mod, I'm going to recycle as much as I can find and use in my house.

I'm curious why you used duct tape on the psu wires and not electrical tape. I mean yeah, duct tape is a fix all, but only if oyu dont have the proper tool for the job, and as I see in the roll of electrical tape, you definitely have the right tool.

 

Duct tape was the before I had electrical tape, I just took a picture before I redid it.

 

kidmodder, i have the next version up from that computer.

If you somehow screw up the xbox power supply, all ellectronics has them.

Nope the psu works, I just cleaned it up a bit. I got my dremel today, its a craftsman Ill take pics later, can't play with it now though its too loud...
