Hi, i'm a total newbie to making my own computer, having never done anything as ambitious as this before, and would like a bit (or a lot) of guidance :)

Here are the components i would like:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/391772-xfx-hd...dual-mini-displayport-hdmi-pci-e-hd-685x-zcfc

    http://www.ebuyer.com/264750-g-skill-8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-ripjawsx-memory-f3-12800cl9d-8gbxl

    http://www.ebuyer.com/287683-amd-fx...4-core-3-6ghz-socket-am3-8mb-l3-fd4100wmgusbx

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Dig...VREI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347224490&sr=8-1

So they are the basic components i would like, but as i mentioned im a nebwie to this and dont know what motherboard and case to get in order for it all to be compatible. Also im not sure what other accessories / components are missing e.g fans etc, pls help :/

    Hi Charlie,

What's your budget and what components do you need?

Try filtering this forum by other build advise threads (look at the top of the hardware section) as there's a few 300/500GBP PC threads out there :)

    Hey there!
A recommendation for you - get your things from Scan. Their prices are great, and after 25 posts on the forum you get free postage.

Do you want a SSD in this build?

EDIT: I was gonna link to the 640 build I did recently but then I decided to tweak it:

    128GB Crucial M4 - 82
P8Z77-V (others feel free to suggest if they want, but it has everything you need for 1 GPU + not going too cheap) - 123. Knock it back to an -LE and you save 25 quid.
i5-3450 Retail Box - 142 (or wait until 3470s/3550s come back in stock elsewhere. Prices are around the same and cheaper than a K series)
    HD 7850 - 155
    8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 XMS3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.5V - 34
1TB Seagate ST1000DL002 Barracuda Green, SATA 3Gb/s, 5900rpm, 32MB Cache, 12ms, NCQ - 60 (would prefer a 7200RPM model, but your SSD will do most of the work)
Corsair Carbide Series 300R Black Mid Tower Gaming Performance Case with USB 3.0, w/o PSU - 60
    520W Antec Neo Eco 0-761345-285209, Modular, 82% Eff' - 50

    /706

No monitor, kb or mouse though.

The build above looks good to me but you're gonna have to add the cost of os as well. Personally (tho I'm sure I'll get shot for this) I wouldn't cut back on any thing except the Ssd if you can't go over budget as it is an easy upgrade for later. Especially as the prices keep dropping.

Herroo! it's been a while, as i had a break from this, but i'm back and i think despite my technophobia i've found something that works :D
Could someone just make sure that these parts are compatible - i'm aware that other builds may work better or w/e and i may have missed something like a CD drive, but is what i have found here all compatible? :D
    AMD FX 4100 3.6GHz CPU
    Asus M5A97 motherboard
    Corsair vengeance 2x4GB 1600MHz sticks
    Zalman Z11 plus case
3.5 inch 1TB GB 7200rpm SATA seagate Barracuda HDD
    Radeon HD 6850 graphics card
Antec 400w PSU (this is the last thing i'm not sure on - will 400w be enough + what connector type do i need)
