    Hello everyone!

I hope everyone has has a great christmas :thumb:

I saw the September '11 Buyers Guide, and fell for the Enthusiast Overclocker build, which is essentially what I have chosen, except for a couple of changes (due to the prices being higher since September)

    - 3.3GHz Intel Core i5-2500K

    - MSI z68a-gd55 g3

    - 8GB low profile vengeance RAM

    - 650W XFX Core Edition 80PLUS

    - Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus

    - Sony 24x SATA DVD-RW

    - Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler

    - Total so far - £499 (without a HDD or Graphics card)

I'm unsure about my HDD, as they are still quite costly.

Also, what would be a step down from the GTX 560 Ti? I will be gaming, but most likely won't be many latest releases so i'm not sure if I should spend £175 on the card alone.

    Many thanks in advance :)

a gtx 560ti is a good card but it really depends on the resolution you play at....
Also i recomend getting a cheap SSD for the OS as that will help general tasks around windows alot! get something like a 64 or 128 gb crucial m4 :) for harddrives get something cheap like a WD greed drive

You could step the 560 down to a 460gtx and save about £60 which would free up some funds for hard disk or ssd

Is the 560 ti worth the extra £60, because I could always get that at a later date after the main components are built.

The cheapest I have seen the MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) mobo for is £96, is this still the best option for that kind of price range, am willing to go up to the £120 mark seeing as its probably the most important component.

Whats the verdict on Hybrid HDD/SSD drives, have seen the Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB - 300 MBps - 7200 rpm for around £90, is the 4gb SSD memory enough for the OS?

If you want the Z68 version of that mobo go for the MSI Z68A-GD55 G3 (which I just bought) as it supports PCIe 3 (ready for Ivybridge and PCIe 3 GFX cards)

Watch what RAM you get with this board and the Dark Rock Advanced. You will need the Low Profile version of Vengeance if that is what you were thinking of getting. Dual channel runs in the 1st and 3rd dimm or all 4 occupied.

you could buy the hyper 212+ for a cpu cooler they're about £20ish or not bother with a cpu cooler for the moment because it probably wont need overclocking just yet
