So you pick a more expensive P45 & a cheaper P55 from a retailer who I believe is not recommended as first choice & that proves I'm ignorant?
thankyou for all the advice guys, im really sorry but a lot of it so far is quite confusing, the argument going back and forward means now i have no idea what i want anymore! Is kyocera's suggestion in http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=177440&page=3 good enough for what i want to do? i've read so much over the past few weeks about how i MUST have a 5850/5870... is it true? cheers for all the help, i know its all said with good intentions wascloud
If you aren't sure who to listen - look at the post count I have no clue why Tesla effect keeps up with the BS... Seriously, just get the LGA1156 set. The 58-series cards sure are lovely, but they don't make other cards obsolete in the way LGA1156 makes S775. Personally I haven't even really bothered with DirectX10 yet, so it's hard to tell if you're really going to need DX11 any time soon. If you can afford one, it's good, but I don't think you really MUST HAVE one.
Tell me exactly how much money can you spend, which monitor you wish for; you want a gaming PC? right? And then I'll see what is the best way you can go (for the money) AND FOR WHEN YOU NEED THE MACHINE!!!
Have a look at what I posted earlier and have a look at what Kyocera is recommeding. I wouldn't recommend going with a Core 2 based system.
thankyou very much everyone, its all becoming a lot clearer now. I can spend up to about £750 at a huge stretch, i'd much rather keep it under 700. The monitor is sorted, actually getting a pretty decent one for nothing from a friend apart from that i was looking for a mid range gaming PC which is as future proof as possible for the price. Thanks very much again! wascloud
Okay; I'll maximise the innards for the given price. (just wanted to be 100% sure about the monitor; now I have more space for my creation).
i wonder what bit-tech recommends at that price point...sub a 5850 and i imagine you are right there...funny, they didn't recommend 775...
610GBP + 141GBP VAPOR-X HD4890 = 751GBP. http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/295...naire=affiliatewindow&CodePromo=oui&srcid=369
the e8400 is quite a notacably faster than the e7400 and it overclocks quite a bit better than the e7400 and when the e8400 is overclocked it chalenges the 920 in terms of gaming performace but don't go 775 no matter how attractive it looks
http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/295...naire=affiliatewindow&CodePromo=oui&srcid=369[/QUOTE] Hi Kyocera, Just wondering with that card (sapphire 4890 Vapour - x) from pixmania, does it come as a retail version with all leads. I ask 'cos the promo packs on offer at the site are confusing me no end. Also does yourself or anyone else know what the actual difference is between the 11150 05 20R and 11150 05 21R (manufacturers code) versions of the Sapphire 4890 1 gig Vapour - x? Cheers in advance
kyocera why recommend him dual channel ram for a i7 920? surely 3x 2gb sticks or 3x 1gb sticks is far better but more expensive. Also you can get a cheaper motherboard then the one recommended above have a look at older threads and the bit tech buyers guide and sure you can get a good board for about £120 saving more money and putting it into triple channel ram.
He doesn't need an i7 build for a bit of gaming. A core i5 750 plus an Asus P7P55D with more money put into the gpu ( 5xxx or Fermi ) will out strip that spec in fps for the same price. Also definitely get the Spinpoint F3.
