First a word from the wise, make 20 forum posts on bit-tech and you can get from weekday delivery from SCAN by clicking on the link below... https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/MyAccount/bittechfreecarriage.aspx By doing this you register free delivery with your SCAN account forever, I believe the only concession is the order needs to be in excess of £25. Around that sum anyway! Anyway keep posting responses under this thread and you'll soon hit 20 posts. Also the monitor mucgoo posted is getting rave reviews from users of this forum. I have a DELL monitor myself and it is wonderful. Can you tell us if you intend to expand your build or PC uses in the future beyond gaming? For instance are you tempted by SLI or Crossfire? Also any space restraints on the size of the PC? The link to your SCAN basket would not show us what you picked, you'd need to list it or take a snapshot for us!
i have no plans to sli or crossfire i think i'll stick with single gpu's.space wise i have a good bit off space and thx for heads up blogins i'll edit my post and list my parts
You can also get that free next day delivery deal at cclonline.com, so be sure to check them out as well. The Corsair H50 is not worth the price IMO, it can be beaten by cheaper air coolers, not only in temps but in noise levels as well. If you must get a closed off water cooler get the Antec Kuhler H20 620 for a bit cheaper @£47: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/ante...ler-lga775-1155-1156-1366-am2-2plus-am3-3plus Reviews: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/03/10/antec_khler_h2o_620_cpu_water_cooler_review/ http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=694&Itemid=62 Personally I would get a good air cooler to eradicate any possibility of pump noise, but if you don't care about the noise level then you can stick with what you've chosen. I'm pretty sure your case is wide enough to accommodate the Thermalright Archon, which according to the HardOCP review above is the best heatsink discussed in this thread so far. The Corsair 650HX is a really solid choice and is Silver rated btw, but for ~£7 more you can get a unit with Gold efficiency: NZXT Hale90 650W 80Plus Gold Modular £99 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w...d-90-eff-sli-crossfire-20db-eps-12v-140mm-fan Neither gaming nor internet browsing will benefit from hyperthreading, so you might as well save the 70 odd pounds and get the i5-2500K.
If you're planning on pushing that overclock with watercooling I highly suggest going for the P8P67 Pro with DIGI+ VRM. That board will OC just fine, but the DIGI+ has more phases and a higher power density per phase. Depends how much you want out of the CPU but it seems like a serious setup!
This review actually includes a sound recording of the pump from the H50 and is the main reason why I am not a fan of closed off water coolers and probably won't ever buy one myself: http://www.silentpcreview.com/corsair-h50
I suppose it should be said that there are many users of those kinds of systems and they say that they don't hear anything. However a few of them say things like 'the H50 is completely silent' - which can't be true so I usually take those comments with a hefty pinch of salt. I also think it is likely that the pump noise is drowned out by other system noises in those cases. It is also possible that the H50 that SPCR received was somehow faulty, but I just wouldn't want to take the risk of receiving one that is 'faulty'.
