Photos First try at portraits

    Ok I've never really shot portraits, other than quick snaps on holiday, Think its because they move unlike still life subjects. Still have given it a shot with my other half this weekend, as It gave me a chance to try my lights again. C&C welcomed as I am totally new to this field, I think I've over done the hair light and did far too much surface glow to the highkey shot in Post process. the pics should click through to lager size on Flickr

    I am in the same boat as you are here. This is a good start for sure. I actually like the last shot more then the others. To me it stands out more with the highlights. One feature I found extremely useful was the 'clarity' option when opening the raw file in PS, it either made the skin smooth or made it very textured/old looking. I'll post up some of my work in a new thread to show you this. I very much so want to get some muslin back drops, as it really enhances portrait work (and in this scenario it would help tremendously).

    Great work, portraits are lots of fun. Keep shooting, you only get better over time!
