Hi.. I just got this crazy idea

I was thinking, Is it possible to fit 2 systems ( 2 normal motherboards with hardware ) In one mid tower case ? Maybe with Little bit of modding, But it should stay as it is ( same size and look from outside ) ?

    Thanks

Yes, but they would need to be low power, as heatsinks couldnt be large, no PCI Card etc.

Could be done, but you'd need two PSUs I guess.

it would probably be pretty easy with a mATX board.... really easy with a mITX or pITX board

If you check out the stuff that Langer and craigbru have stuffed into their respective cases,
PrometheusCU and rogue, you'll soon see that with some good design you could probably
get two full size, powerful systems in there.

Yeah, with small motherboards it'd be easier.

2 Basic systems could go in there :D

If you pull this off please show some pics.

Dual water cooled CPU's on each motherboard would allow you to inverse one motherboard so its PCI-E and PCI slot are over the CPU/memory of the other motherboard. Then its all down to how close you can get them.

Sounds like a prefect case for this would be lian li V2000 with a PC-7 motherboard tray, the case has room for dual PSU's and already has it motherboard tray inverted.

Simple answer: this is bit-tech everything is possible :D

    A bit longer:
Obviously you would have trouble with cooling.
You could use 1U heatsinks (meaning you use air) on CPUs to avoid using card risers.
If you are thinking water then you could use riser cards on GPUs because that way they would stay cool and out of the way.
Though I don't know if you could have a multi GPU (crossfireX/SLI) while using risers.

Guess there is first time for everything

LOL Burnout, wouldn't using the V2000 make it easy??

Have been bored so this is what I came up with ( no sketchup :( )

The two boards would face each others CPU slot and thus giving room between
There would be one* GPU on every board connected via riser cards, having the PCI-E connector on top.
    * - unless there is a way to use dual GPU setup using riser cards.

Between the CPUs somewhere where you would find your rear fan would be mounted the two pump for each of the motherboards loops.

The rads would be 3x120 mm (each for one of the motherboards) mounted like stuartwood89 imagined here.

SSDs :)rock:) would be mounted on bottom because they are small (2.5" HDD size) and also because there is nowhere else space to put them :duh:.

Two PSUs would be placed on top one in front of the other one (I don't see any other way of putting them there)

CPU block idea GPU block idea

Also, may we know the reason of putting two mobos in a mid-tower case?
