More importantly, the NF-S12B ULN Version, the one that makes around 6Db. Currently my case is fairly loud, the loudest part is the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, its pesky little fan makes a noticable noise, im getting a Titan Fenrir soon. The Case fans i have do the job, but could be quieter, and the GPU Fan i can barely hear. I Would need 4 120mm fans to fill my case (Antec 300, would probably just remove the top 140mm fan), this would be about £60 for fans, which is where im a little :S Obviously replacing just 2 wouldnt do much good, as the other fans would still be making noise. And i would most likely need another to go on the Fenrir. Upsides would be a nearly silent PC, fans could be re-used, and i would have some spare fans for a second rig im thinking of building. Thoughts?
Yate Loons wouldn't be as good but you'd be saving around £20 on fans, they're damn quiet and move a fair amount of air Alternatively, get a fan controller and make your existing fans run a little slower?
Seems my GPU Cooler does make a fair amount of noise. Will get the Fenrir, and see how things go. I Know the noctuas are overkill, but just the idea of a near silent PC amazes me... Maybe for my HTPC Build
Check your chipset too. If it has a fan, it's a small one which whines like crazy, yet people seem to forget about them. Or I did anyway .
Get some Scythe Kaze Juni's - I bought 5 (2x 1900, 2x 1200). I've got 2 in my gaming rig attached to my fan controller (almost silent, theres a few other fans in there aswell) and 3 in my media rig (inc one on my CPU cooler, along with a AC Accerllero S1Rev2 gpu cooler on my 9600GT, elastic suspended hard drive - actually silent ) Either way, those fans are dead quiet - especially the 1200's running at about 800rpm.
120/140mm Fan Roundup on Xbit Labs From the conclusion: To be fair, the only Noctua they tested was one notorious for performing poorly against even moderate airflow resistance, and no Yate Loon fans were tested at all. But I would still recommend one of the Scythe S-Flex, based primarily on its price (far lower than any of the other top fans in the tested group, and definitely lower than any Noctua). - Diosjenin -
Its the loudest thing in my case, damn smaller fan, oh and its working harder to keep my OC Cool Will order the Fenrir, then see what fans to fit it. Scythes a good choice then? The ULN 6Db attracted me
The ambient noise in a completely silent house is about 20-30dB. No way a fan can do 6dB. And they don't really push any air through, not really worth it.
People say that, but I actually went and measured my room at night. It's more like 12dB for me. Maybe that's why it was so damn hard to get satisfied with my HTPC cooling.
58Cfm at 6Db is very impressive.... Looking round for best prices for the Fenrir and a few other peices i want at the moment. The other thing is i Game with Steelseries Siberias on, so dont really need a quiet PC.... just for when its downloading etc really.
