Wick3d. Well there is only one way to describe your project so far, and my prediction for its outcome: l33t.
*tease* I've finished all the tool work on the keyless keyboard and I'm about to go assemble it. */tease* I've also find a great local source for plastics and I purchased all the plastic I needed to construct the keyboard lid AND all the plastic I still need to make the LCD lid. Plus some extra material. The total of my bill was a meager $7. Me happy
The pics speak for themselves, so... It's not the best keeyboard for typing, but it was one heck of a fun project. I made it specifically for eye-catching appeal and instant-response keys which work great for gaming. Now that my fingers know where they're landing, this is the ideal keyboard for playing first-person shooters. I can rest my fingers in the required keyholes and press ever-so lightly to move, jump, strafe, or select weapons with ease. Mmmmm, and it's tasty.
Um, I'm going to have to kidnap you and steal your keyboard. Nothing personal, of course Seriously sweet work
Yowza! That is one heck of a keyboard. Why didn't you extend the buttons out with cylinders of some kind for more easy use?
If he extended the buttons with cylinders wouldnt that defeat the purpose of a keyless keyboard? That evil smiley is l33t. Good job. its a damn nice keyboard. I would think that the depth of the holes would get annoying so if I made one I would like counter sink the holes or something. Again, nice job!
You have inspired me to create what I plan to call the "ultraviolet" keyboard. I plan on making something Veeerrrryyy ineresting, once I learn how to use some power tools Great job!
Well, the 4" tablesaw proved worthless for cutting thick plastic so I spent the remainder of yesterday purchasing and setting up a 10" tablesaw. Now I have a really loud and violent tool in my workshop. :haha: I'll make some more progress on Tuesday.
Loving that keyboard.... sooo sweet. Question : How good is the picture on the LCD, for reading text on webpages and stuff ?? Should be good for movies, just wondering. Keep up the excellent work. Darkside.
It's a Video LCD, so the input picture is hardware resampled to it's native resolution of 320x240. I can output to it in 1024 x 768 and do everything I normally do but the text is unreadable. Unless of course I fill the top 1/4th of the screen with windows magnifier. Through which I could read as I type or view websites if I wanted to. And as far as I can tell it's color range isn't spectacular. Somewhere around 200k-400k. Much like a standard TV.
That's what I wanted to know.... cheers for the honest reply. Think I'll still do one of those myself as a stats display. Darkside.
Too bad about the text but that's a most excellent keyboard. I was thinking of getting one of those small LCDs for a stats/visualization display but wasn't sure if it'd be worth the price (somewhere are $200 if I remember correctly)
