Lemme guess....you're next project will involve you modding some 'puter to fit in your pants? Actually, if you placed the HDD in the right place....
hehe I'm probably 10 minutes down the road from you I live in Chantilly (actually, post office is Oak Hill) and go to Chantilly HS bout 10 mins to dulles *gets in car...with bolt cutters
I should be able to get the polishing done today (I hope). But first I'll need to clean up the aftermath left in my shop area. Maybe I'll have something to report tomorrow.
It's all finished. I've spent the past 4 hours polishing the cut edges of all my plastic pieces and I'm happy to be done. And here are the best pics I've been able take of it (click for larger). I do however have one last project to add to this thread. In order to make this the ultimate totable machine, I want to set about making an all-in-one durable carrying case for this machine and all of it's accessories. Once I make up my mind as to the specific case I'll be using, I'll post it here. It will most likely be an aluminum LP or instrument case.
Wow... I am amazed. I love mechanical mods, and this... this thing reminds me of something from Transformers or something... your cube box unfolds into a whole PC, screen included! Mod on, man. If not, we may all have to load up baseball bats.
Awesome! Great work man. I love it! For the case, I'd say one of those big plastic boxes you can find at camera places with the foam inside should work. All you do is exacto knife out the foam, and put your beautiful case in, and You're finished. Very simple and efficient.
[off topic] pinguin4x4, only 18% geek? shurly you could dig deep and pull that inner geek to the surface[/off topic]
This computer is COOL. At first I thought, another boring, small case filled with leds. But when I saw the finished KB, and the the folding screen I thought. Mod on.
FINALLY, a good shot of it in the dark. (click to enlarge) I just sent the requested write-up to EpiaCenter.com including 37 detailed images and I'll post the link here as soon as it's up.
The complete article is now up at Epiacenter.com Direct Link It highlights every detail of my project and explains how much time and effort were involved.
Awesome Job! You have done an awesome job with this computer. Stuff like this is what Bit-Tech.net is all about. Thanks for such a great mod and I hope the carrying case has a little flair to display that what its carrying has some major class and ***whooping potential. <---whoa. lotsa smiles...
Well its impossible to total geek, I also have to be a grease monkey and a redneck you know, Can't wait to see the case,
Could this be battery powered? It is more compact than a laptop (body width). Almost everything is incorporated into it that is needed. I love the sliding display.
