Hey, i have a 9600Pro, and want to flash it to an XT (first im gonna get Arctic Cooling VGA, to get the clock frequency up ans stable)

    I have 2 questions,
A: what are the consequences of flashing the BIOS from Pro to XT?
B: will the card be able to handle the Overdrive feature?

    Thanks

From what I remember you cant , ATI have the memroy tied in, in a different way that nVidia, the card needs to be the same architecure, and layout!

    check first

  5. A 9600 XT and 9600 pro are the same core design. Except that the XT has a thermal probe and is 100 mzh faster on the core. The overdrive does absolutely nothing me in fps. Maybe 1 or 2 fps for me. Just d/l powerstrip or ATI tool to overclock.

Is the memory timings (?) of an HIS Excalibur 9600 Pro the same as a 9600XT?
    eg. Samsung 2.8ns ans 3.3ns?

You can flash a 9600PRO to 9600XT, but from what I've heard it does absolutely nothing, they run at the same voltages. It's just better silicon ;)

just clock her up I'd say :p

i wouldhave to agree, if you clock it up it'll proform just the same, thats the only difference between the two cards.

i think you must have got mixed up with the 9600XT and a 5x00XT product, only a fool would try to flash an ATI product with an nvidia bios

i dont think he meant that. Some ati cards have specific bios's for their layout.

unlike the nvidia cards which are basically a 5900 or a 5950 or a 5600 etc..
