And this is why we need to stop global warming. If we don't, the polar caps will melt and the oceans will all drain away to the center of the earth.
The Earth isn't entirely flat. The edges of the ocean are all frozen and curled up at the ends to keep the ocean water from flowing over the edge.
The Earth is round. Here is a weird thought, space is curved by gravity and the Earth has gravity, if space was not curved by gravity would the earth be flat?
What I do know , is that it's been 39 years since “we” went to the moon and that we have yet to return, I don’t suggest that that would mean that we haven't been there, but it does not exactly suggest that we would have been there in the first place either. Anyway; latest project was along the lines of going to Mars I believe, perhaps that one will pan out a wee bit better and give us a second run. Be that as it may; I find it to be interesting. “I know it's true, oh so true, 'cause I saw it on TV.” Comon now gents, sing along (no humour?)
Ouch, Wikipedia....I of course yield. Would had been nice with some more photage of them additional moon walks thou, hmmm; come to think off it, I believe there actually is some photage of a car driving on the Moonar surface.
Yup, totally missed it. walle, the problem that some people have with the moon landings is the same as some people have with evolution. They think that they have a firm grasp of the science involved, but they don't. It really does not take much tech to get a man on the moon. It really, doesn't (especially not under the health and safety standards espoused in those pioneering days. The astronauts were called "The Right Stuff" for a reason. Like the cosmonauts, they were all test- or fighter pilots for a reason. There was a reasonably high risk of getting killed). The biggest problem was getting several tonnes of spacecraft and moon lander into orbit. We know that they cracked that one --there were hundreds of thousands of witnesses seeing ****-off-huge 3 million kg, 110 metres high rockets taking off. No fakery there, agreed? The rest was relatively simple: a tin can with life support sturdy enough to travel to the moon and back. We have mini-submersibles, right? Similar thing, except that the hull pressures involved are much less. The reason that there have been no moon shots recently is for two simple reasons: 1. No sense in repeating the same thing. If you're going to do it, you have to bring something new to the party. More astronauts, longer missions, or more fancy equipment. That costs exponentially. 2. Modern astronauts are less dare-devil pilots and more scientists. Nobody would accept traveling to the moon under the same conditions they did then. It would be considered unsafe.
No one suggested that they didn't take off, it isn't hard blasting something into space, but what many experts argue is the fact that we didn't touch the moon until a later date, and the rocket which did blast off just circled the earth until they had to come back to earth.
