FTFY Really how can anyone respect an athlete or profession where that kind of behaviour is the norm. Its the sort of actions of a child.
I have played semi-proffesional football. Its much more physically draining than sunday football. I can only imagine how much more physical it is the higher you go. Everything happens so fast. I have several friends who are speedway riders. They get paid sod all and are the toughest bike riders I know. They ride 5 races which last a minute each. They travel the country in a their vans 3 or 4 nights a wekk, and some fly to Poland to race on a Sunday, back you UK on a Monday for a meeting and then out to Sweden on a Tuesday. Fogarty has said that Speedway riders are the bravest bike riders he knows. The top riders have to be as physically fit as any footballer. These riders have had ridden with broken bones, burns, stitched up wounds. Footballers do not have the same mental attitude as these guys. My mate is the one in the white crash helmet colour. The bike that hits him between the shoulder blades weighs 13 stone plus the rider. He rode the rest of that meeting with a dislocated shoulder to help his team win the league. Make your own mind up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff1XQE_8WOE
This is a footballer This is a motorcycle racer. He did this on saturday in qualifying, carried on racing and won the race on sunday
This thread is getting stupider. And you know it is when someone posts something showing a footballer inhaling some gas and assuming thats what all footballers do then a motorbike crash. Because thats extremely comparable of toughness.
He did say "this is a footballer". I think most on here are clever enough to work out he's having a bit of fun and doesn't mean all footballers.
Guys I understand that the two video's I posted were two complete different ends of the spectrum. I wasn't directly comparing one to the other. I could of easily posted two video's of both a footballer and a motorcycle racer, both training hard in a gym. The thing that bugs me is the money side of the equation, out of ALL professional athletes footballers get paid 10 times more, and there lifestyle is so appealing to young people. Footballers are idols to our youth, and yet not a week goes by when there is a front page news story about them.
"Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're hurt. Rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not."
I think there needs to be a popcorn tag to prepare bystanders - I was half way through the thread until I decided to fetch mine.
I've never had a problem with how much footballers are paid. I think if the game is generating billions of pounds, it's only fair that the footballers, 'the stars of the show', get paid accordingly. It's not like anyone can do what the top players (Ronaldo, Messi, Hazard, etc) do.
