Already posted in the photo forum but thought you guys would also appreciate these! Took them at the Manston airshow this weekend.
we should figure out who is going to what air-shows for the rest of this year and maybe next year, and maybe have a meet up nd a drink ill likely go to Cosford and Paris next year if I can afford it
Paris will next be held in 2015. Farnborough is next year though. I'm working on getting an invite for MAKS (Moscow) this year, so if any of you end up there, give me a shout.
Was picked up in mid winter from the summit of Glyder Fach in Snowdonia by one of these whirly birds. Awesome ride... and my damaged ankled healed almost perfectly
Would you knowledgeable folk be able to identify the jet that flew over us on our way back from area 51? The consensus so far is that it's a Tornado, but odd they'd have one there as it wasn;t used by the USAF afaik? It's in 1080p so you can get a decent-ish look at it in some frames.
<3 the P51.... If I were to - say - win the 160 million Euros in the Euro millions tomorrow, I'd buy a P51. It's probably my favourite plane in ever. My brother was selected to fly these for the German Army, but declined eventually, on the basis of it being his dream, but if something small happened (i.e. a broken leg that takes long to heal or something), there'd be nothing for him to fall back on, and he'd be forced into early retirement. Specifically, the NFH SAR variant EDIT: As for the Video: I had to watch it on my mobile (no YouTube at work), but that does look like a Tornado. Looks like something with sweep wings, which pretty much narrows it down to the Tornado or the F-14 - and that seems a bit small for the old Tomcat - will need to watch in proper res to tell for sure, though.
Definitely a Tornado. Red Flag 13-3 took place in Feb-March this year and Nellis (the host base) is close enough to Area51 that you'd see visiting aircraft nearby. Check out this page for pictures of RAF and RAAF birds at RF 13-3.
How about long-range Russian maritime patrol aircraft? I love the rattle and thick black smoke of the Il-38s.
Glad to see they moved the Victor back inside. She looked pretty sad outside in the wet when I saw here earlier this year. Oh see that its a old picture, could well be sat in the rain still then lol
I'm looking to go to Shoreham Airshow this year in August/Sept, should be a good laugh. I saw this last week though Airbus A350 by samkiller42, on Flickr Pretty cool to see the maiden flight of something, even if i was 12,000ft below it. Sam
'tis indeed a Tornado Not sure who's tho Germany and UK both fly out of Nellis AFB for Red Flag exercises EDIT: http://www.nellis.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123331902
