I'm looking into getting a car sometime soon and I was recently told about this Ford Options thing.
Has anyone had any experience with it before? It seems (on the surface anyway) to be a decent idea.

I'm looking at getting the new Fiesta Zetec S

    Cheers :)

Seems like a good idea, but obviously it depends on how accurately you can estimate your annual mileage, and how hard you drive your cars. As if you underestimate the mileage, you'll owe them more money at the end, and if you over estimate the mileage, the Guaranteed minimum future value will be reduced, meaning your monthly payments will be more.

I personally wouldn't do it as I wouldn't trust them not to try and tell me the car isn't in good enough condition at the end of the term (even though I look after my cars) but that's just me.

It seems like a lot of extra hassle to me...

I think I would take the option to buy the car though at the end and apparently you can haggle with them over the price if you think it's too high, but they cannot ask you to pay more. If not, I will just walk away.

    Thanks for the advice though.

Is there any reason your not looking at buying one that is a couple of years old? You can haggle on a car so easily and get a cracking deal at the moment because of the car market.

My Focus Owners club has a couple of Fiesta's for sale that are practically brand new..

Yea, I'm going down to the garage tomorrow and I plan on having a good haggle with them over the new and second hand options. I know roughly what the focus and fiesta should cost private, but I am willing to go with a garage and pay a little more if I can get a few months 0% finance to give me a chance to get some more money together.

ex-display models are usually good to commit price hate crimes upon when going into stealerships, don't forget to ask around :D one ford dealship may be cheaper than the next, if you can get them to duke it out for your custom you are quids in :D

There are two in town within 5 miles of each other. Hopefully they will do battle.

I cycle past one of them each day though and for the last 4 or 5 months I've only ever seen about 2 or 3 people looking around. I'm hoping they are desperate. :p
