Ok, basically as i am going to do product design in university.. i want to see how many people would buy things purely cos they look nice over something that does a lot more. I personally will always choose form over function, as it is just the person I am and i am very aesthetically minded.. i like smooth lines and curves.....

    so anyways.

    tell me whatcha think :D

Yeah, well formed is always good :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Nah anyways, it depends on what it is. Sometimes I go for form, sometimes for function. For instance - I don't care what my computer looks like, it just has to be fast and work properly, but I do care what things like my mobil phone look like and my watch and stuff like that... guess I'm somewhat of a stylo-person there.

    Cheers

Kind of an ironic question to be asking at bit-tech. How many of the mods in the project logs are about looks and not function? Then again, many of the mods are for function (OCing)? Really, how does it help to have 50 multicolored LED’s or a plexi case? Don’t get all crazy and flame me, I am jealous of the kick a** projects in the logs, I’m just answering a short question the long way.

I am a visual person so I look for packaging and aesthetics first. Function is equally important, but the looks come first. That’s how I picked my wife :thumb: , car, house, etc.

Hehe i'm doing product design at college and personally i go for form before function, but i'd never go for something crap that looks good when i could get something alot better that looks slightly worse.

On a side note.. i should be going to the same Uni as malcs and same corse next year :p.

For me it depends on what it is, clothes would be form (looks are more important than comfort :D ), where as PC stuff it has to be function, for a car its a bit of both.

I'd say it's both for PCs. I can't stand ugly PCs. You CAN have both.

Function for the insides of the PC but form for the outside.

For things like mobile phones and watches and such, I consider form to be a part of their function. The same with a computer - if it is to be taken to a LAN, it has to be carryable. So for me, it's all function anyway. There's a big differece between killing the cooling of a case to make it look pretty and killing the features of a swiss-army knife to make it fit in your pocket.

I think I'm just an old geezer. I like the simple things... like my ancient nokia 5125 and my 1990 Ford Bronco... If it does some other thing that I find on my own later, cool, but if it does what it's supposed to do and it costs less, that's what I'm looking for.

But then I've never had money to burn, so I suppose that could make a difference...
