This is going to sound stupid But I can't seem to format a new drive and my brains gone dead as to why.

The Drive is Drive 0 in this image

if I try and initialize it via Virtual disk manager I get this message

    upload_2026-2-4_22-39-32.png

If I right click it in disk management and click properties I get this

Prior to it becoming uninitialized I tried the following

I've tried formatting it via Windows Explorer, it said it couldn't format the drive

I've tried formatting it via Windows Disk Management it said it do not complete successfully

I've tried formatting it Via an elevated Cmd Prompt run as admin using diskpart it got as far as the clean command running successfully then when i went to format it I got the message no volume selected and it wouldn't show me disks 0's volume.

any ideas as my brain is frazzled at this point.

Not really sure but have you tried some of the disk software's to initialize the disc, something like Disk Genius, partition magic or gparted live CD?

Do you have another SATA port or controller to try it in?

if i try and use an elevated command prompt I get these results

When I list the disks disk 0 which is the 12 tb new drive shows up as 0 with 0 space which makes sense as its not formatted

    upload_2026-2-5_16-55-39.png

when i tell it to show volumes

    upload_2026-2-5_16-57-15.png

It doesn't show up at all

If I try and create a simple Volume I get the error
