OK, due to me being a total weapon and installing the wrong version of windows 7 (32 instead of 64 bit) I need to restart the install. I remember reading somewhere that formatting a drive in a certain way gibs the performance of the drive, so I'm not entirely sure how to procede. When I get to the drive options to install, shall I format the partition that the old install is on, or just delete and remake the partition? Quick reply needed. Yes I know I'm a tool.
Just delete and reformat.... no need to repartition if you're happy with how they are. As for format/partition types, the only concern I'm familiar with is the disk start offset parameters, that can effect conventional hard drive performance, but that shouldn't be a issue with a SSD due to it's non-linear layout and access methods. Just format as NTFS as normal so far as I'm aware.
I remember reading somewhere on BT that doing a Full Format or Quick Format (can't remember which) messed the drive up, hence why I'm a bit apprehensive.
don't do a full format. use quick format. or use hdderase. can't remember where i read to use quick format. instead of full format. sorry. though. here are two awesome SSD Performance Tweak links. bit-tech tweaktown
The full format bug only occurred with drives using the Samsung controller IIRC. What drive do you have?
