Im absolutely fed up with my XP333-R on board sound! I NEED a ood quality sound card and after being sorely disapointed with the Audigy (incompatible with 98% of PCs and growing!), i want a little something else. I want good bass and treble with a couple of extra features, and the Hercules Fortissimo 2 seems quite good. Does anyone have this sound card? Is it any good? Can you use the optical outputs to say the Creative DT3500 speaker system and get 5.1 surround gaming as well as DVD 5.1 sound? Got to work in WinXP as well!! thanks!!
thanks for the reiview but the reviewer sounds like a right dick. "Oh help me mummy i cant keep the connector in the back of the card" "waa waa! the driver is not digitally signed and confirmed with win XP! boohoo!" the reviewer encountered absolute trivial problems which would only infuriate the most novice of novice PC users which is all i can conclude the reviewer is from this PATHETIC review. thanks for link all the same
Evilbob bought a Fortissmo II and found that the analogue sound was rather disappointing, but the digital excellent.
I have the fortissimo 2, and its been great for me. Using my Logitech Soundman 2.1 speakers, the EAX support in games is enjoyable. The sound quality for MP3s seems crisper than my onboard SB128 and the estension lead with all the outputs is a great feature. The blue PCI card, looks good when teamed with my Hercules 4500 Kyro 2, hope i can a window to show it off. The only bad points i have had with it are downloading drivers. When i converted to XP i had to download a 20mb Yamaha driver file in order for it to function, lets just say i wasnt the happiest of people Overall i would give it a thumbs up. Got mine from tekheads, OEM, for less than £25, works great.
