Hi guys theres a fella on gumtree selling Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Full Retail Version with both 32 and 64 bit disks...in a factory sealed box.....£49.99...i bought one, got delivered today...apparently he has more... TURNED OUT TO BE FAKE comes with serial key thanks guys
it looks like a sticker but i cant feel any edges, mine was sealed, just installed onto a laptop no problem, getting the updates now ill contact the guy who i bought it off.....i do find it hard to get the disk out of the case and even harder putting it back into the case....the packaging looks legit....cd's feel a little thin.....mabe i should pull link off the post
Maybe ask him where he's getting them from, or threaten to report him to Microsoft? If it seems too good to be true and all that...
We had a couple of copies of server 2008 that ended up coming from china & looked genuine until you put it next to a genuine box. Then you realised the text was slightly fuzzy, the colours were slightly out & they used stickers etc. Activated etc fine but was either MSDN or Technet key on a pirated disk.
oh i think ill take it somewhere and get them to give there view as they can inspect it.....just doesn't look or feel right thanks guys
I would. Problem is it might activate now but is MS ever find out they will blacklist the key and you'll suddenly find it un-activates itself. Then £50 won't feel like such good value for money Any chance of a decent photo of the disc? Also you could ask the seller to provide evidence that Microsoft have verified this stock as genuine.
Done matey http://forums.bit-tech.net/album.php?albumid=283&pictureid=27908 http://forums.bit-tech.net/album.php?albumid=283&pictureid=27907 The only pc shop around here is pc world and i dont think they know there ar*e from there elbow
yeah looks fake, the screen printed area is offset, and on my genuine disk the microsoft hologram changes to genuine, on three areas of the disk you can report fakes in uk here i should point out, if it is found to be fake, you can recieve a complimentary package, to help legalise you
Cheers guys, no way im keeping it, the guy is going to get it back thanks again for all your help guys take care
Yes not too bad, but a fake all the same...i compared the disks to others on ebay and the fake lables are faded a fair bit
i'd be tempted to report it rather than ssend it back, if you report it, it will be taken down, and possibly prosecuted, if you send it back, he may just repackage it and sell it to some other unsuspecting victim
Oh i will report it, just gonna get my cash back first, and ill note the serial key down, then report it also found this site explaining how to spot a fake http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1541770/all
These links may help you: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Software.aspx#Packaging https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/cfr/report.aspx Also I spotted the box immediately - it uses the wrong font. Looks like Arial or something, whereas the legit one appears to use Segoe, like Windows 7 itself. The "Windows 7" line is also too bold with the letters too close together. Bad luck man, hopefully it will continue to work for you and stuff.
Cheers manic, he agreed a refund mate, but im going to let microsoft have it, might get a legit one from microsoft and a refund from the guy who sold it to me....i win twice lol
