Well i sold alot of stuff i dont use so i got a nice cash boom. Plu my mom is kickass so what can i say? I just wish everything was here right now so i oculd continue on.
UPDATE 8/21 Well i finally got to makeing the mounting bracket for my Polarflo VGA block to fit on my NVIDA 6800 ULTRA. I started with the origional hs. And i bent all the fins off of it My tool of choice for this was a pair of needle nosee pliers All finished removeing the fins The pins left a fairly rough surface which would have been very hard to drill into so i took it to my bench grinder. I couldnt get any action pictures with sparks flying FLAT!!! Planning Better picture What it should end up looking like The insides of my polarflo I'm sad to say i expected a little better design than this. Origional Bracket The newer bracket ME!!! To begin construction i first drilled hole into the origional hs to attatch the old bracket to the new one. I attached it with pop rivets because thats what i had lyeing around. I then drilled holes around the center and punched out the scrap. The middle of the hs
A little bbit of fileing CONSTRUCTION All done. May add some finishing touches later That's all for now. I'm going to try to figure out a way to route the tubbing from the bottom section to the top section. Hopefully i'll have an answer in my next post.
Those ramsinks are adhesive, and they guide heat perfectly. Thermal paste wont keep the heatsinks on their place.
You're right. Arctic silver makes an adheasive paste that works much better than the sticky tape they send with the sinks. I'll wait for that
Ohh you are too kind. Please, i would like to hear what you think should be addedto the mod. I am interested in others opinions
Cool idea for converting that GPU block, good thinking for those of use without access to a metalworking shop...
Haha thx. Yea this is like my 4th attempt at this. My first was out of plexi and bent like hell. The second one was out of a little thicker plexi and broke. My third was out of metal but i didnt like it. And this one i made because i knew all i'd have to do was shape the inside and not the outside (which was probably my main flaw in the other 3) Plus i hae an aftermarket air cooler to fall back on if anything goes wrong.
UPDATE 8/24 I Finally found a way to route the tubing up to the top level without haveing to cut any noticeable holes in my case. Here's some pics of what i did. Here's just a quick tape and mark of the spot i cut The other side of the cut (note the case is upside down) Air compressor hose MUWHAHAHAHAHA 4inch cutting Wheel This thing'll beat the $h%# out of your dremel Action Shot First extremely rough cut. Only downside to my cutting wheel is that it cuts very rough. Notice i gave myself alot of fileing room. AHA!!! Get out of my case!!! This was the top rail of the bottom HD rack. With everything removed. While i was takeing a break I heard a Knock Knock on my door. Scroll down for the next update!!!
UPDATE 8/24 HAPPY B-DAY TO ME A DAY EARLY While I was doing some modding in the garage i heard a Knock Knock on the door so i decided to go and give it a look. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!! As soon as i open my present up i am greated with some pretty blue tubeing floating on top of some packing peanuts. Just touching this stuff and giving it a quick bend test i can already tell that it is of much better quality than the cheap Home Depot Crap i've been useing. It's 20Ft of Blue UV reactive Danger Den 1/2inch tubeing. MMMMMMMMM 2 packs of PAX MATE without the annoying logo's all over it. I'll show you what i did with these in my next post My new Swiftec HPDE Res. I can feel the quality through the bag. TY Swiftec for no leaks. 20ft of edge molding and 40 grommets (Thats right 10 packs of 4) 8 Cold cathodes for plenty of light. 4 uv and 4 blue. I'm thinking i'll put 2 blue and 2 uv in both sections. BRIGGGGGHT!!!! The whole Sheh-bang Couldnt wait to put it together so i grabbed my plumers tape and got it all ready. 2-wraps on each barb Barb secure Repeat 3 times and take a blurry picture Ran into what may be a problem. The res is a little bigger than 1 slot so we'll see what we can do about that. That's all for now. I have some more pics of what i did today but i'm a little tired. I think i'll post em tommorrow.
UPDATE 8/25 HAPPY B-DAY TO ME The first victim. My rear 120mm Exuast Fan. I first Drilled out all of the wholes with a 5/16 bit so the grommets would fit nicely. And then i shoved four of the suckers in the holes. Next I drilled out the 2 top screw holes. Unfortunately the top was too thick for grommets to i'll just have to cut one in half and use it as a washer when i mount the fan. The HD fan got the same treatment. I also put some molding around the hole on the side just to clean up the look a little bit. I also put some molding on the Bottom 120mm intake but i couldnt put any grommets on because i couldnt get my drill inside the case I'm going to see if i can hunt down a right angle attatchment. Next up were the holes i cute for the tubeing. I'm glad i have this stuff because they would have been incredibly hard to file. Ugly hd cage that i'm afraid to paint. OH NO!!! what do i do? This'll help. ahhh much better and quieter. Some quick Pics before i ran out the door. That's why they're blurry I got the center and the drive cage with this stuff too. It looks much better now. I'll get some pictures that will do it justice. And finally the side panel got some treatment. I have a tiny square left but i want to use some scrap after i'm done to fill it.
man this mod is great. its amazing what you can do if you have the tools and the space you need. I was workin on my mod with an antec plus view and becuase of space and tool limitations its pretty much destroyed so i might have to go for a stock case like that. Its amazing and you are only making it better. Cheers!
Now that's a compliment. I to have ruined 2 cases now and messed up on the one i tried to build from scratch. I had finally decided to go back to air cooling when i found a thermaltake shark and thought "well it has a few 120mm holes already, I wouldnt have to do much modding if i had that in my hands" so i went case shopping and found This. It's amazing and has the potential of 6 120mm radiators without doing much more than drilling out rivets. I've decided i only want four though because i dont plan on putting any holes in the bottom of my case or removeing my remaining drive bay. With the right stuff this case just mods itself.
PFFT! Infernal photobusket! I think they offer unlimited bandwidth if you send them some clams. I think there are some stickies at the top of the worklog forum about free photo servers...
