Looking for abit of light gaming the last fps I bought for the pc was Battlefield 2142 which I still enjoy but numbers are dwindling so looking for something new.
I already own COD MW1 & 2 on xbox so that rules them out I'm tempted by Black ops but I would only really ever play the Nazi zombies part of the game.

So any ideas of something with some competitive online play?

I am also keeping an eye on the steam sales ;)

Team Fortress 2. It'll absorb your life if you can get your friends to play it too. Hell, just get the Orange Box, you'll get Half Life 2, Episode 1 &2, Portal and TF2 which are all excellent games!

BFBC2 is a good call, just how 'high end' is the laptop though?

Or possibly Counter Strike: Source? It might be a tad hard to get into though.

Laptops not bad runs most stuff at least on medium. I have looked at bad company 2 but I just feel like after battlefield 2 its going to be a huge let down.

Trust me, if you're a fan of BF2, BC2 is a huge bore of a console game, it just sucks.

    I like both BF2 and BFBC2...

The reduction in scale makes the fighting even more frantic and the physics engine is glorious. Don't even get me started on the sound, it's truly amazing.

Sure, I'd have preferred a new BF2 but frankly I don't care as BFBC2 is still excellent.

By the way, have you considered co-op FPSs? Killing Floor and Left 4 Dead are brilliant fun with friends.

For casual gaming, I'd say you've got to go L4D/2 not too strenuous, works fine on my £500 Dell with high settings, and is great fun to dip in and out of.

I hugely enjoy BFBC2, and also enjoyed BF2...

BFBC2 runs great on low on my laptop (Ati mobility 5650)
