any suggestions on ramsinks, like i said, never bothered before so i dunno which are good :p

tried core at 600, mem still crashed at 630
    ran a 3dmark at 725/620, got 5k lol
core never went above 42c tho and its bloody hot today, gonna put the aircon on soon :worried:

edit: haha you are right, the ram chips get bloody hot :D

As for ram sinks, just get whatever you can, cut up a heatsink, you could just get some from coolercases or OCUK (under other coolers > Zalman) Also how did you manage 5K ! lol I can get 9k with a slightly oced X1800 XL. whats the rest of your system like ?

Edit: maybe you should make a new thread ?

    x2 @ 2.6
    2gig ballistix 260fsb
    x1900xt
i dunno how it got such a low score, runs hl2 ep1 at 1600x1200, max everything never goes below 50fps

ordered some ramsinks, will see if that helps
if it doesn't ill make a new thread ;)

I just realised, what 3Dmark ? I was refering to 2005, some how I think your using 2006, yes ? If so then that score is the same as my X1800, but with higher memclocks you should be getting a good 6000 :)

so after a little more messing about it seems my problem was with ati tool
i uninstalled it, re-enabled the ati service, installed ati tray tools (to monitor clocks/temps as it cant overclock x1k cards yet) and used the built in ati overdrive to overclock it
now running at 690/720 (690 is as high as the core can be set :()
havent tried doing the memory yet through it but it can set it higher than 620 so thats an improvement :p

Hamish maybe you should flash your card to the XTX bios, that might sure your lack of memory overclock (make sure you back up your orignal bios though)

Hehe, it's in the "Graphics card how-to's" thread. As for my Ghetto coling it's simply a 80mm fan blue tacked to the stock cooelr over the Vreg heat sink and cooler intake:

I'm probably going to sell the Vapochil soon, then go full system Danger Den watercooling.

    .... noooo....!!

you can still get a treble rad in the top and a CSP-MAG in the bottom....

then again, if youv'e got a good clocking 3800 then just a trable or more rad would do well...

sorry didn't see what you meant...

love the ghetto cooling...... so, rustic..

ha! The reason I'm selling the vapo is because I need the money, being 14 years old, money doesn't exactly come around that often. The phase hasn't really increased the oc that much (though it's helped to burn in this CPU a lot) I could easily sell the unit for £200 odd then buy a high end loop :)

Now enough with the offtopic-ness. Also If anyone has trouble overclocking, try to make otherthreads, otherwise this one will get cluttered.

go for danger den CPU, and EK for the X1800...

wait and get a Blacke Ice GT 3 and a Laing DDC with Plexi + 1/2" then get an Innovatech tank-omatic cos the look cool...

well, im only 14 too... how about that.
