Yeah, we got the same on blueyonder recently, they stepped it from 512 to 768, then the full 1Mb.

It was a lovely surprise when the download speed came up at 120kb/s, I can tell you :D

NTL did the same thing just before xmas turned my 1mb connection into a 1.5 MB :) unfortunately in their infinate wisdom their decided that customers don't need to upload to anyone so they left the upload at 256kbs :(

Yeah, but even with higher download speeds the upload is left the same, usually only seeing a very slight upgrade with the very fast download packages...

I just wait for an internet problem to come up (outage, modem dying, etc.), then I call them up, make outrageous claims and promptly ask for a bandwidth upgrade. Hasn't failed me yet and I've already cranked a good 10 MB down and 5 MB up. The best part is I don't get charged a single penny more.

Looks like your mixing up your bytes and bits tbh.

Upload of 32kB/s is the same as 256kb/s (8bits to a byte)
    So a 1meg download line = 1024kb/s or 128kB/s

the was the ISP's are charged normally means they are getting charged for a 2mb regardless of what they provide the client.

They just need to work out how much of the Internet Transit costs they pass onto a user.

    What!!!!

Free upgrade from 512k to 1mb on AOL and still pay £19.99 a month.

I have AOL 1MB for last 6 months and Pay £29.99. Im gonna have to get on the phone to AOL and complain that I pay more for the same connection as other paying £10 less. :(

Well I switch the phone on now with the loud speaker on and wait till friday next week for them to answer. Thier phone lines are rediculous.

When I fist got connected I was on Hold for 2 hrs 13 mins Just so I can request my user name and password to log on and start using my broadband.

BT is upgrading from 512kbps to 2mbps on the 17th, which is nice. Wonder about upload though..
