Right now I've got your attention :)

My girlfriend and I happen to be moving out of our current rental property on the 25th of March and into our new rental property. We have a slight problem however because we need some people to help us move :) Washing machines, tumble dryers, beds, fridges, etc.. all need to be shifted 1 mile down the road!

So I was wondering if anyone here on Bit-Tech might be able to help? The requirements are:

    - You live in or around Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
    - You are available for a few hours on the Sunday 25th of March 2007.
    - You can actually get to where we live by yourself.
    - You are strong enough to help lift an 85KG washing machine.

I pay in beer, peanuts and crisps. All of which will be in plentiful supply

Post or PM me if you can help! :D

    Hire a removal firm?

Might be a better idea than to trust your belongings to some strangers off the interweb.

Get the removal men to do it.

I've moved 13 times now and getting the removal men to do it for you is a bit time saver.

We were quoted £528 to move all our stuff, which is somewhat steep! Cheaper to hire a van and get some help. Plus all valuable stuff will be moved by myself in my car so unless you fancied trying to make off with a 106KG fridge freezer by yourself it there isn't anything really to swipe.

Yes 85KG isn't much, but I can't lift it by myself up a flight of stairs ;)

Hire a van, i am sure you and your misses can carry most of the stuff. If not if you don't have one try and make atleast one friend from now until march.
You would only need one man to help with you and your misses.

Doesn't mean I will turn up :p What part of Portsmouth anyhow?

You could just hire a 4 wheeled wheelbarrow, or just put the back seats down in a car and load stuff on that.

Hire a pallet truck? ~£30 for one day from HSS Hire...will lift up to two tons, plus great fun to ride like a scooter when its empty (not that I've ever done that at work when bored :worried: ). Lifting it onto the truck shouldn't be difficult really, then just tow the thing...

    Southsea :)

NB We're getting a van, what we lack is manpower for moving the heavy stuff ;) We probably only need 1 or 2 people! There maybe a crisp £20 note in it as well.

If I was local I would help out so we could muse over the charms of flcl.

Actually that makes me sound a bit gay, and since you need manpower ... :blah:
